If you have lived in Scotland all your life and contributed to Scottish society all your life, your vote is equal to that of an international student who moved here a year or so ago.
Glasgow City Council@GlasgowCC

No matter where you were born, if you live in Scotland you can vote in the Scottish Parliament election on 7 May 2026. Make sure you’re registered and ready to have your say 👉 gov.uk/register-to-vo…

@Alex__H13 @pastasnack_e I lived in one of these many years ago when I first moved to London - attracted a very weird group of residents, most of whom were a lot older than you’d imagine. In theory could be a great thing tho.

Lots of people's social & romantic lives could be vastly improved if it was normal for young adults to live in college dorm-style accommodation in city centres until they were ready to set up home properly. Why doesn't this exist? I think there would be a market for it!

🚨 Say it ain’t so. Kate (Times Radio) asks Rob about his deliberate mispronunciation of Kemi’s name and his repeated misogynistic tone toward women and female journalists. Guess his response? “You need to get your head checked.” Classy. Very classy.

I like in a nonfiction book when all the sudden there's a big break for a pictures section. The author's like "oh by the way these are the guys I was telling you about."

@RajanBarot24 "The first respondent harassed the claimant contrary to section 26(1) of the Equality Act 2010 (“the Act”) by: (a) failing to revoke the grant of permission to the second respondent to use the female staff changing room". That doesn't sound especially 'procedural'.

Let’s be absolutely, Sandie Peggie has lost on all but a few procedural points. This is a victory for trans people everywhere and a vindication of trans inclusion. bbc.co.uk/news/live/cpd6…

@AidanCTweets Not really. Dr Upton was the one who initiated the disciplinary process against SP following her complaints about having to share a changing room. The Trust was found to have harassed SP through this very process (and by failing to revoke his permission to use the changing rooms)

Dr. Upton literally was keeping herself to herself, living a quiet life. She did absolutely nothing wrong, and was found to be a calm and credible witness.
Stewart Delglyn@StewartDelglyn

@AidanCTweets @jk_rowling There are many trans who want to live a quiet life, keeping themselves to themselves & then there are others, clear example with this tweet, who make up a bunch of make believe nonsense to justify their position and be in the spotlight. The later cause more harm to the former

@ThomasWillett9 And that SP was harassed by NHS fife, not least through their "failing to revoke the grant of permission to [Dr Upton] to use the female staff changing room". (para 1a of the judgment).

Former @Telegraph editor Lord Moore says that out of the almost 300 people who travelled to commit suicide at Beachy Head cliffs this year, who were helped by the chaplaincy team, just 4 actually jumped. Vulnerable, suicidal people deserve our love + help to live, not to die.

@NizMhani @NaomiRipon1111 Why does it need to be ‘representative’ to be valid? Are white men not entitled to free association and expression just as every other group are?

@NaomiRipon1111 Hi Naomi. You seem to be struggling to grasp some concepts. 1️⃣ The UK is about 20% non white. This march is AT MOST 1% non white. 2️⃣ The UK is about 51% female. This march is AT MOST 10% female. These marches are not representative of the UK.

The marches in London today; 🟥 Overwhelmingly (almost exclusively) men. 🟥 Overwhelmingly (almost exclusively) white. This is a white supremacist march isn't it?

Observe the modern moralist: he sneers that no man’s child should inherit his fortune, then calmly asserts that he should. The parent has no right, the child has no claim, but the state has every title. It is robbery parading as ethics, expropriation sanctified by jargon. To call it “incentivising work” is a joke so low it would shame a carnival barker. These creatures produce nothing, envy everything, and demand tribute from the dead because the living have learned to ignore them.

I don’t think I’ll ever forget the moment I got the news. I was in the kitchen, proofing some homemade Foccacia. Then I get a text from my dad, who knows how much I love and look up to Ange. He doesn’t even break the news, he tells me to “check the news”. And then it hit me. A shotgun to the chest.

@BarristerSecret These briefs didn’t just appear on his desk tho. You’d have to go out of your way to build a practice like Hermer’s. This in itself is fine; but if he takes up public office, it’s valid to scrutinise the ideology his work potentially reveals (or that of the PM who appointed him)

Barristers are strictly forbidden - in any case - from refusing to represent a client on the grounds that they find the client objectionable, or that the public might find a client objectionable. Anybody telling you otherwise is lying to you.
The Secret Barrister 🦋@BarristerSecret

To help Honest Bob Jenrick - whose video completely misrepresents the cab rank rule and the duties on barristers not to discriminate against politically unpopular clients - here’s something from last year thesecretbarrister.com/2024/03/24/is-…

As a long-term goal, I don't think there is a good argument for there being any social housing at all in Zone 1. The opportunity cost of giving away such housing in such a prime location is enormous. We should consider the purposes that social housing has: (thread)
thdhmo@t848m0

So in England in 2024, looking only at ‘general needs’ social housing (eg excluding specialist units for the elderly and disabled), the social housing system missed out on rents estimated at £19.1bn, that’s around 0.8% of UK GDP, not insignificant.
