am i overreacting for thinking that my girlfriend's apartment requirements are insane?
So me and my girlfriend are looking to move in together in NYC and honestly I'm starting to lose my mind over this whole apartment hunt.
She's set on finding a place that's 9-15k a month which like okay I can maybe swing 9k (I have won some $ on stake) but 15k is absolutely wild for rent even in this city. But that's not even the worst part...she has this massive list of requirements that seems to grow every day.
She wants 3 bedrooms minimum, outdoor space (good luck finding that for under 20k), specific closet configurations, and I swear she mentioned something about crown molding yesterday. I'm sitting here thinking we could find a decent 2 bedroom for way less and be totally fine but she acts like I'm asking her to live in a cardboard box.
Every time I suggest compromising on literally anything she gets this look like I just insulted her entire family. Am I being unreasonable for thinking maybe we should prioritize not going completely broke over having a spare bedroom we'll never use? She does work really hard btw I don't want to shit on her. But I pay for 70% of everything including proposed rent.

@Steezehuman Gen Z literally invented DoorDash, overpriced Instagram clothes, $300/mo fitness classes and $70 weekly brunches. They have no clue what a budget is

@LargeFamDad Men…children are the ultimate social and financial disaster. Don’t let anyone on the internet tell you otherwise

My boss's boss is like 42, never married, no kids. Earns $275-300K per year. Goes on a minimum of two international vacations a year w/ his girlfriend. 10+ days, all out.
Eats the best food, stays in top notch accomodations. Excursions, tours, nicest beaches, etc.
Great guy, I'm happy for him.
But what I've realized is that without kids, you end up chasing a lifestyle that has to continually be topped in order for you to be satisfied and find happiness.
What he and others like him don't understand is that when you have children, seeing THEM experience life's most basic things and watching their eyes light up at all the "firsts", brings greater pleasure and joy than any vacation or travel experience ever could.
Seeing THEM try blueberries for the first time is greater than dining at the best 5 star restaurant in Europe.
Seeing THEM learn how to walk is greater than walking the Great Wall of China or strolling along the most picturesque beach.
Watching THEM giggle uncontrollably at "peek-a-boo" tops any A-list comedian act.
Seeing THEIR excitement when building a fort out of cardboard boxes and making a door big enough for daddy is superior to staying at 5-star resorts.
Flying kites with THEM far outweighs excursions like parasailing or helicopter rides.
Seeing THEM perform a recital on stage for the first time is more rewarding than watching a Broadway show or top notch symphony orchestra.
-----------------
When you have children, all of a sudden you realize that life's greatest joys are not in the pursuit of things or pleasure or travel, but rather in the LOVE and bond you share with your very own image bearers.
Seeing the beauty and magnificence and wonder of life all over again for the first time through THEIR eyes and expressions gives you something the world simply cannot offer, nor even come close.

@ArsenalSon200 @DailyLoud They didn’t have her choice. They give you 2 or more options.
English

@DailyLoud This is crazy and screams discrimination at its peak. How can you run out of food in first class? Didn’t they know the number of seats they had? Didn’t they check the number of seats sold? Come on, how petty and racist can you be? She should sue their ass, period.
English

@Eman_8282 And the TV just threw itself forward and unplugged itself. Sure.
English

@TheEdPill It made sense for me to go from 11% to 4% thank you very much!

@MetamateDaz OR…you could stop being an under performer your whole life and go make something of yourself

Innocent dogs are being injected with drugs on Skid Row by addicts to test if the drugs are laced with fentanyl. Other dogs are being sold for drugs. It’s diabolical. Why is Councilwoman @YsabelJuradoLA “F the Police” Jurado okay with this?
English

@greendragonhq Now how about going to the proffessional tenant’s house who abuse the system, haven’t paid in years and destroy the place?
English

@TheGriftReport Not buying this just yet. There’s more to this story
English

19-year-old Jamie-Lea Biscoe was mauled to death by the family’s own 7-year-old blue-merle lurcher dog called Shy at their home in Leaden Roding, Essex.
Shy was described as the “softest” dog and Jamie-Lea’s best friend, the same pet she’d had since it was a puppy.
Her father Jack, 37, found her collapsed around 10:45pm, tried to save her and was also badly bitten (part of his ear torn off).
The dog has been seized by Essex Police. A 37-year-old man has been arrested and bailed.
Devastating family tragedy.

@MrPitbull07 Not a real photo.
Not a real story.

When my upstairs neighbor moved out, he left his dog behind in the hallway like it didn’t matter.
For an entire day and night, that tiny Chihuahua sat outside the empty apartment, crying.
Not the kind of noise you can tune out.
It was raw… desperate… confused — the sound of a heart that couldn’t understand why its person never came back.
At first, I tried to ignore it.
But I couldn’t.
No living creature should be left standing in a hallway, crying into silence.
So I opened my door and gently brought him inside.
That’s when I realized how bad things really were.
He wouldn’t eat.
He didn’t react to kind words.
Most of the time, he stayed hidden behind the couch or pressed himself against a yellow pillow, staring quietly with heavy, half-closed eyes.
Not sleeping.
Not resting.
Just… exhausted from sadness.
For three days, he refused food completely.
I rushed him to the vet, scared something serious was wrong.
After checking him, the vet said something I’ll never forget:
“He’s physically okay… but he’s grieving. This is depression.”
They gave him medication to help his appetite, but it didn’t work. He refused everything — food, medicine. I had to carefully give him small amounts of water and soft food just to keep him going.
A week passed with almost no progress.
His little body trembled when he tried to stand.
One day, the vet gently told me,
“Dogs in this condition don’t always recover… you should prepare yourself.”
But I couldn’t give up. His owner already had. I didn’t know where my neighbor went, and at that point, it didn’t matter.
If I walked away too, he’d truly have no one left.
So I took time off work.
Every day, I stayed close to him. I didn’t force him to interact.
I didn’t overwhelm him. I just sat nearby and spoke softly. I wanted him to understand one thing — that this time, someone wasn’t going to leave.
For days, nothing changed.
Then, one afternoon, something small shifted.
His eyes followed me as I moved across the room.
On the third day, when I called his name, he slowly raised his head.
By the fourth day, he leaned against that yellow pillow and gently rested his tiny head on my hand.
That’s when I knew he hadn’t given up.
On the sixth day, he took a small bite of food from my fingers.
And I broke down.
Because it wasn’t just eating.
It was hope.
It was trust beginning to come back.
Now, a little over two weeks later, everything is different.
He eats on his own.
At night, he curls up beside me, resting his head just like before — but now he’s calm, safe, and finally able to sleep.
Sometimes, there’s still a hint of sadness in his eyes.
But it fades a little more each day. Even the vet calls him a fighter now.
I named him Phoenix.
Because even a heart that’s been broken by abandonment can heal.
And sometimes, all it takes… is one person who chooses to stay.

@RealPaulMueller He did this to his ex’s dog because she burned his clothes 😡
Women, stop doing this dumb shit! Destroying your ex’s car, burning clothes etc…Now we have an innocent puppy who suffered at the hands of a monster. Just gracefully move the fuck on!
English

Orangeburg, South Carolina - A puppy was burned alive during a livestream, and now justice is catching up. 29-year-old Desmond Levon Brown pleaded guilty to federal “animal crushing” under the PACT Act. Authorities say he threw the puppy into a fire and kicked it back into the flames while streaming. He later admitted it on a recorded jail call. Brown now faces up to 7 years in prison and a $250,000 fine.

@samuel_leeds Money doesnt buy brains i see, just spent 1.3m and you have no idea what you even get, "Citizenships" my ass you fucktard, all you get is a long term, non immigrant visa dumbass
English

We just signed the contract to buy our dream home in Phucket 🇹🇭
It cost just 56m BAHT (£1.3m), and is a freehold property next to Bang Tao beach 🏝️
The best part is we will now qualify to get our official Welathy Global Citizenships, meaning we can spend as much time as we like in Thailand and pay 0% tax of our global income!
Most people assume you the only countries that are require zero income taxes are Dubai, Monaco and Cayman Islands, but there are so many other great options - not just great for business, but also go raising a family.

English

@fukTHEirs @skumWgmi Ain’t no way you’re feeding a family of 4 for $650/month unless you’re feeding them bulk rice and beans no protein or anything that grows
English

@skumWgmi At 95k you should:
-Have roommates- save at least half.
-Drive a used car without payments. - no car payment and cheaper insurance.
I spend 500$ on a family of 4 for 3 weeks. Stop being a cow.
Holy shit look, you have money if you’re not completely retarded.
English

@HealthyAlfred The only thing that stuck out at me here was the animal cruelty.
English

Scientists destroyed rat knees on PURPOSE.
Cut the ACL. Cut the MCL. Ripped out the meniscus.
Cartilage gone. Bone eroded. The knee collapsed in 8 weeks.
Then they got BPC.
4 weeks later the joint looked like it had never been touched.
Then they ran it in humans. 7 out of 12 people with chronic knee pain got relief.
What is BPC?
15 amino acids from your own stomach acid. Your body makes a version of this to keep itself alive. Scientists copied it and put it in a vial.
Your knee has screamed for years.
Your ortho offered you cortisone that dissolves more cartilage every shot. Or $50,000 to saw the joint out and bolt in metal.
He never told you a peptide rebuilt destroyed knees in a study published 12 years ago.
Because nobody profits when you heal.
544 studies. Zero toxicity. Kennedy uses it. FDA votes July.
Your surgeon is sharpening his saw for yours.
You’ve been icing a dying joint. Ice doesn’t grow cartilage.
This does.
Took me years to figure this out. Wish I’d known sooner.

English

@dantypo Your dog lived a miserable life and just existed. You should be ashamed
English

Nobody is required to love your dog.
I know I sound like a prick.
But stop bringing them in stores.
Just last Friday, I stopped in a store and a guy in checkout has his dog and it jumps on me as I walk past them.
“Oh he just loves people” they say obliviously.
So? I’m having to go to customers and the dog got dirt streaks on the thigh of my pants.
And spare me the “if you don’t like it, don’t go in the store” bullshit.
If you can’t make it through a store without your dog, it’s not me with the issues.
I had a dog. It was a great dog. Best part of our family at times. But I expect NOBODY to have to deal with my occasionally over-excited dog, especially in a public place. I’d never have even thought of bringing a dog (I’ve seen it twice now) in a restaurant. Hell, if a person came over my house who was uncomfortable with it acting up, I’d take him in the other room.
And for those with actual service pets? You really should speak up, because the people who don’t have well trained dogs are going to lose you that privilege.
*end rant
