Who was the worst British/English monarch? I don’t know enough about a lot of them, but after reading about what Henry VIII did to Sir Thomas More and Cardinal Fisher, he seems like he was a bit of a tyrant

Genuine question: What would modern Anglicans, five centuries removed from the Dissolution of the monasteries, have to do to sufficiently atone for the sins of our ancestors in the eyes of Roman Catholics?
laudablePractice@cath_cov

When England was restored to the Roman obedience under Mary, the Dissolution was undone. Lands were restored, abbeys flourished, monasteries abounded. Oh wait. Actually no, that didnt happen. History tends to be more complex than the talking points of sectarian enthusiasts.

If animals can’t experience love because they’re not made in God’s image, then they also can’t experience pain, joy, loyalty, or any inner state. But clearly they do. Anyone who’s seen a dog or horse grieve for or comfort their human knows their capacity for love. Aquinas won the institutionalization battle but he was smuggling an Islamicized version of Aristotle’s De Anima into church dogma rather than deriving the position from scripture, which prominently features God including all living creatures in his post-flood covenant, Balaam’s donkey speaking in rebuke, the cattle of Nineveh joining the city’s repentance in sackcloth and ashes, the Psalmist’s insistence that the very breath of every living thing praises the Creator, and Christ reminding us that not a single sparrow falls without God taking notice. A priest is preeminent, but the congregation has its role and reward. Man is the head of the family, but of what use is a head without a body?

@MrBeigeShiba I bought the "Wetiko" book- do you recommend the author's "Dispelling Wetiko" as well?
