Zimbabwe Hosts UN Envoys in High-Level Diplomatic Engagement The Government of Zimbabwe, this Thursday evening welcomed an eight-member delegation of Permanent Representatives to the United Nations, who paid a courtesy call on the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Trade, Amon Murwira, at his Munhumutapa Offices in Harare. The visit forms part of a high-level familiarisation tour aimed at strengthening international engagement and elevating Zimbabwe’s global profile. The meeting with Prof. Murwira comes ahead of a scheduled courtesy call on H.E. President Dr. Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa, with the date of the engagement set to be announced. Welcoming the delegation, Prof. Murwira underscored Zimbabwe’s strong commitment to multilateral diplomacy, describing the United Nations as the “cornerstone of collective humanity” and the primary platform for advancing global peace, security, and sustainable development. “We firmly believe in the United Nations Charter. If it is not the United Nations, then what is the alternative? It remains our hope for collective peace, security, and development,” he said. Prof. Murwira highlighted that the visit would provide the envoys with a first-hand appreciation of Zimbabwe’s national aspirations, as well as its contributions to international peacekeeping and global cooperation and he noted that Zimbabwe has consistently played an active role in UN peace missions across countries such as Angola, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Somalia, and South Sudan. He also drew attention to global challenges, particularly climate change, describing it as an “existential threat” with tangible impacts already being felt accoss the globe and he said, while some regions are facing rising sea levels, Zimbabwe and parts of Southern Africa are experiencing more frequent droughts, with cycles now occurring in less than five years. “This is no longer an academic issue, it is a practical reality that demands collective global action,” he said. The Minister further reaffirmed Zimbabwe’s bid for a non-permanent seat on the United Nations Security Council for the 2027–2028 term, emphasizing the country’s readiness to contribute meaningfully to international peace and security where he noted that Zimbabwe’s foreign policy is guided by principles of peaceful coexistence, respect for international law, and its longstanding doctrine of being “a friend to all and an enemy to none.” In response, representative of the delegation, Ambassador Odo Tev, the Permanent Representative of the Republic of Vanuatu to the United Nations, representing the delegation expressed appreciation for the warm hospitality extended by the Zimbabwean government. He commended the country’s clear commitment to the principles of the UN Charter, particularly its emphasis on dialogue, peace, and international cooperation. “What we are seeing is a strong belief in international peace and security, and in dialogue. These are important values that Zimbabwe brings to the global stage,” Ambassador Tev said. Reflecting on the delegation’s engagements during the visit, which included tours of national institutions and peacekeeping training facilities, Ambassador Tev noted that Zimbabwe’s approach aligns with the broader global need to strengthen multilateralism at a time when the international system faces growing uncertainty. “The world today is fractured and evolving into an uncertain space. The United Nations remains critical for maintaining international peace. Without peace, development cannot be achieved, and challenges such as food security, human rights, and economic stability worsen,” he said. He emphasized that all nations, large and small, must work collectively and uphold international law to guarantee peace and security, adding that membership in the UN Security Council carries the responsibility of representing not only national interests but humanity as a whole. The delegation’s visit is expected to deepen Zimbabwe’s diplomatic ties and enhance mutual understanding between the country and the international community, as it continues to position itself as a constructive and peace-oriented global partner.

I had the wonderful opportunity to moderate a high-level fireside chat with His Excellency Dr. @WilliamsRuto , President of the Republic of Kenya and Global Champion for Affordable Housing for All, at the @2ndauf in Nairobi, Kenya. It was a truly engaging and insightful conversation. His Excellency took the time to explain how he has prioritized affordable housing within Kenya’s national agenda, and how he has mobilized resources to turn this political commitment into a reality for millions of Kenyans. It was also a candid exchange, in which he openly shared both the progress made and the challenges he has faced, and continues to face, in delivering such a bold and transformative agenda. I remain deeply grateful to the entire team at the @HousingUrbanKE and @UNHABITAT for this wonderful opportunity. Many thanks to Hon. @PSCharlesHinga , Hon. Amb. @Nakhumicha_S , Mr. Mike Gitonga, Mr. Oumar Sylla, and to everyone who took the time to support me and help me prepare for this session. It truly takes a village to make things happen, and that is something I know and deeply understand.  #AUF2026 #AffordableHousingForAll #youth #finance #leadership #kenya @AnyangNyongo @SakajaJohnson @2ndauf

Great initiative by #GreatmanMusic. RETWEET and help him reach as many people as possible! You know what, my people? A retweet costs you nothing. And when you see somebody who is disabled, like Great Man, pushing this initiative, it should shame us who are able-bodied that we are not able to assist those who are disabled. The least we can do is to RETWEET so that those who have the heart to help can actually support this cause. So I ask you again, please RETWEET this initiative that Great Man, who is disabled, has started to assist people like him who are disabled. It costs you nothing at all as a Zimbabwean or an African to simply RETWEET, or as any other nationality.

Mrs. @PatienceChirad3, Director of Governance and Conflict Prevention Directorate, and Ag. Director of Conflict Management Directorate in the @AUC_PAPS, moderated the opening session, where Welcome Remarks were delivered by H.E. Dr. @AmbGad, Assistant Foreign Minister for African Organizations and Communities, Government of the Arab Republic of Egypt. Amb. Gad welcomed participants to Aswan on behalf of the Government of the Arab Republic of #Egypt and stated: "#PreventiveDiplomacy and #Mediation are cornerstones of the toolkit available to African countries and our #AfricanUnion to tackle the numerous conflicts and crises facing the continent. Today, more than at any point in the past, the nature of conflict in Africa has become more protracted, regionalized, and witness to shifting threat patterns. There is therefore a need for a genuine, creative and effective mediation under the @_AfricanUnion framework that understands the unique nature and particulars of the different crises and provides applicable and adequate African solutions." #AUHLR
