@Keir_Starmer What a profound weasel. "Voices of division", eh? I suspect that's how you define all those who refuse to toe the euro weenie line.

Today the voices of division will be loud. They don't speak for the country I know, one that belongs to all of us. That's our Britain. A Britain worth fighting for. lbc.co.uk/article/keir-s…

@TerryMoran The difference is that Nolan *clearly* picked her as a diversity play. People aren't complaining about black actresses, they're complaining about weak kneed wokeness.

Or Ben Kingsley playing Mahatma Gandhi. Or John Wayne as Genghis Khan. Or Laurence Olivier, Orson Welles, Richard Burton as Othello. Or Alec Guinness in “Lawrence of Arabia.” Or David Carradine in Kung Fu. Et cetera. Lighten up.

@gerardtbaker I dispute your premise. Trump is engaged in a multifaceted global strategy vis a vis China, and Taiwan is just one piece. You must be bright enough to understand that Trump doesn't say things to inform us of what he's thinking. He does so to create leverage.

Waiting for the 4D chess people to explain how the incipient surrender of Taiwan to China and abandonment of a central pillar of US security in the Asia-Pacific for 50 years is in fact another stroke of pure genius from President Metternich.
Acyn@Acyn

Trump on Taiwan: When you look at the odds, China is very, very powerful, big country. That's a very small island. Think of it, it's 59 miles away. We're 9500 miles away. That's a little bit of a difficult problem. Taiwan was developed because we had presidents that didn't know what the hell they were doing. They stole our chip industry.

It’s hard to think of a bigger historical inversion than claiming that the Nabka is about a fictional Israeli genocide rather than a failed Arab genocide. If they had succeeded, they’d be celebrating how they wiped out the Jews. They’re just crying that they weren’t able to.
Rep. Ilhan Omar@Ilhan

The Nakba never ended. The genocide of Palestinians continues as the Israeli military escalates violence in Gaza, the West Bank, and Lebanon. I'm joining @RepRashida in co-sponsoring a resolution to recognize the 78th anniversary of the Nakba and Palestinian refugees’ rights.

Drake has 40 of the top 50 songs on US Apple Music. Yes, all of them, all at once. He also released 43 brand-new songs at midnight last night, on a daily chart that only counts plays from the past 24 hours. Three full albums, all dropped the same night: Iceman, Habibti, and Maid of Honor. So when 43 fresh songs hit millions of listeners at midnight, every one of them racks up tens of thousands of plays before breakfast. The chart fills up with the new music for a few days. This happens with every major album drop now. Taylor Swift owned all 10 spots in Billboard's Hot 100 top 10 with Midnights in October 2022, off a 13-song album. She did it again with The Tortured Poets Department in May 2024. Drake himself took 9 of 10 in 2021 with Certified Lover Boy. His 2023 album For All The Dogs put 7 songs in the Hot 100 top 10. Big artist + long tracklist + release day = the same chart screenshot every time. The money helps explain why he dropped three albums at once. Apple Music pays artists about one cent every time someone plays a song in the US. Spotify pays less than half that much. So if even one of Drake's 43 tracks pulls 10 million plays in week one, it's roughly $100,000 sitting on the table just from Apple. Times 43 songs, times months of replays, and the totals climb fast. There's also the contract. Drake's $400 million deal with Universal Music Group, signed in 2018, is up for renewal. He sued UMG in January 2025 over how the label pushed Kendrick Lamar's "Not Like Us" during their 2024 feud. Three albums in one night is a lot of music delivered to a label he's actively suing. None of this lasts. Release-week chart takeovers usually fade inside 7 to 10 days, because the chart starts paying more attention to which songs people keep replaying. Check the same chart in two weeks. It will look almost nothing like tonight's.

Today is Nakba day. Arabs having a Nakba day is like Germans having a day of mourning for losing WWII. Palestinians are the only people on the planet whom the world provides an safety net so they could amble from one defeat to the next without learning anything. Time to stop!

I support Rashida Tlaib's resolution to officially recognize the Nakba on the condition that we say the truth about what the Nakba was: Palestinians led the charge, murdering 1% of Israel's population, in a war they started. Palestinians rejected a peaceful UN two-state solution and chose war and ethnic cleansing instead. They ethnically cleansed THE ENTIRE East Jerusalem and the West Bank of every Jew. NOT ONE Jew remained there. Let's recognize the truth of the Nakba.

It's a scammers world, we just live in it. Don't drop your guard! I did just recently and paid the price -- $187.71. Here's the tale. In violation of the 10th Commandment. I have coveted my neighbor's power-washer. We are pals and he'll lend it to me any time, but I hate to keep asking. Browsing the internet, an ad caught my eye. Posted by an outfit named Jetterix jetterix-pressurewasher.com/en/ it advertised what they claimed was a power-washer attachment for ordinary garden hoses. Just the thing! I ordered one online, order placed April 27th. A week later I got an email saying my order had shipped. A week after THAT, the package arrived. Instead of one of the durn things, it contained THREE. I could swear I only ordered one. Why would anybody want three? I'm a suburban homeowner with house & gardens all on one-sixth of an acre. The delivery didn't contain anything else. No assembly & use instructions, no packing slip for return & refund. Each unit has two parts: a hand grip with trigger that you attach to your hose, and a long barrel that screws on to the hand grip and squirts out the power jet. I assembled one unit and tried to fit it to my hose. No way it would fit. I tried another hose my wife had: no fit. We dug out an old hose from back of the garage: nope. Disassembling the unit and putting aside the hand grip, I found I COULD attach the barrel part to my hose. When I then turned on the water, sure enough a jet came out, but ... power wash? No way. With water to the hose full on, the jet out of the barrel was no more powerful than our basic garden-hose attachment at its "jet" setting. Annoyed, I checked with PayPal to see if my payment had gone through. It had: $187.71. Say WHAT? OK, my bad. I hadn't been practicing due diligence. Now coming up to my second childhood, I guess I had thoughtlessly lapsed back to assumptions from the high-trust society I inhabited in my first childhood, back in 1950s England. I should have checked references. Here's a key one: malwaretips.com/blogs/jetterix… They don't openly declare Jetterix a scam, but they do say it's "closer to a scam than a legitimate cleaning tool." I emailed Jetterix on Wednesday, got a bland and unhelpful acknowledgement in return, but so far -- today is Friday -- nothing more. I very much doubt I'll get any kind of refund, but it's my fault for being so careless. We have to pay for our blunders. I'll take what satisfaction I can from the hope that by publicizing the tale on social media I may cost Jetterix some sales -- with luck, maybe more than $187.71 worth.

A reminder: Sarah was still alive and tried to crawl away after she was shot. Rodriguez followed her and fired at her again, emptying his firearm at her. And yet she was still alive and even managed to sit up as he reloaded his weapon. He finished reloading, and fired at her for the final time. 21 spent cartridge cases were found. May he rot, and may the infested ideology factories that carry water for this madness face every consequence coming to them.
