WAYMART, PA — Thousands of Orthodox Christian faithful from across the United States gathered at St. Tikhon’s Monastery over Memorial Day weekend for the monastery’s annual pilgrimage, one of the largest Orthodox gatherings in North America. Organizers estimated that approximately 5,000 pilgrims traveled to the historic site near Waymart to participate in worship services, prayer, and fellowship.

@Christ_OverAll Ecclesial anxiety, huh? Well wouldn’t someone professing to believe in Christ want to make sure they’re in His Church? Would you have said Noah’s family had anxiety simply because they wanted to be on the Ark when the world flooded?

The Orthodox Catholic Church is the Church established by Christ Himself in the first century that carries on today. Christ said the gates of hades will not prevail against His Church, therefore there was no need for Luther or Calvin or Smyth to “reform” or restart it. The heterodox See of Rome, with its papal errors, should not be seen as the Church, which is the myopic mistake Protestants make. The Church carried on through the four other Sees who maintained the apostolic faith despite Rome’s breakaway.

Truly enlightening and encouraging to see Fr. Peter Heers of @OrthodoxEthos teach at this weekend’s young adult retreat hosted by St. Michael Romanian Orthodox Church in Southbridge, Massachusetts. Grateful for Fr. Peter’s ministry and looking forward to fruitful years ahead!
