@MassachusettsWx What?? KMA is not a good model to use for the Atlantic lol. Second of all, euro has showed development before and is backed up with a decent signal on EPS. Third of all, why assume that the CMC and GFS would drop development because of other models?

Before any questions arise, I am very well aware GFS/CMC are trending towards a TC by early-mid next week. Though not out of the question, more better relied models like the euro, AI models, KMA do not develop this system, thus CMC/GFS consistency may soon quickly stop suggesting a storm.

@MassachusettsWx The Euro is DEFINITELY not more reliable this season, KMA severely gets systems wrong. Also, if you look at the Synoptic setup, this is prime territory for another system to develop. You have low shear, plenty of moisture, and great OHC still.

Conveniently located buoy near #Helene has its pressures dropping quickly. Down to 992mb, implied 990mb minimum pressure including the wind! With the new central convection this suggests more rapid intensification has already begun, recon about to go in and confirm

Main news tonight: the 00Z runs of several hurricane models (HMON, HAFS-A, HAFS-B) are much stronger than the 18Z runs, all showing Cat 4 or even higher with future #HELENE. These models have performed decently in recent years—so I am taking note.
