@Drealz4 That's the thing about these sneery posts about folk buying new cars, where do they think used cars come from.

Dear @Tesco I used scan & go today. Got to the checkout had to wait for a member of staff. Thinking because I had wine I’m like ok that’s fine…..No….member of staff came and started scanning my shopping 33 items from my 66. Then asked if I’d scanned everything 😡 Why?

@jzrdan Totally agree. I track everything on Family Wall over the year. I have budgets for the year for different things which I reduce down when I spend money. It's great and destressing knowing where everything is going. It also allows you to enjoy life better.

Being aware and in control of your finances is one of the most important things in life, but being in control doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy your money. Some people enjoy holidays, watches, a nice home, a big bank balance or a nice car. It’s different for everyone, do your thing.
H4. 🇵🇸@hxmza1

Anyone under the age of 40 years old or anyone earning less than £75,000 a year should not be financing cars. And if you are - fix your financial literacy up.

Let’s be part of the solution
@BobFromAccounts Less than £1 per day. That’s hardly sufficient to make drivers think carefully about reducing/substituting their mileage, or at least ride-sharing. And does nothing to disincentivise SUVs and other oversized cars. Surely it needs to be size/tapered, from £10 per day and upwards

@dresserman Aldi is great for middle aisle and value but Tesco is still the most complete in terms of overall value, rewards, quality and savings imo. Less said about ASDA the better, my local (bootle) is woeful post covid. High prices, messy store, laggy tills, poor stock/ quality products

@MrTCHarris Opposition needs to unite if this is ever to change though, they're getting large swathes of the seats on 35% of the vote.

And I'm sick of every Holyrood election being about independence, an issue that doesn't even come within the remit of Holyrood. Maybe it's time we welcomed another SNP majority so that we can watch as they combust when they realise they're still not getting another referendum.
Stephen Kerr@RealStephenKerr

I'm sorry to sound repetitive, but it's another poll showing an SNP majority as they clean up constituencies thanks to Reform UK's splitting the vote. Only way to stop this: Scottish Conservative on the purple in key seats, and everywhere on the peach ballot to stop SNP/Greens.

@JamesKelly I mean, this is hardly going to be a policy anyone is going to like. Not because everybody is a landlord, I'm not, it's because it's totally unworkable which is immediately obvious to anyone with a brain cell.

Tell me, Sam, are there any SNP policies that you actually like? Statistically it's inevitable there must be at least one or two that you like and are just pretending not to. It must be a strain to keep this up.
Sam Taylor@staylorish

How is this supposed to work? Is the landlord compelled to sell at this “fair market rate”? How is that calculated? And if they are not compelled to sell, and think they can get a better offer, won’t the landlord just wait out the exclusivity period, & then put it on the market?

@citydoc56 @TheRealJamieKay Road damage is driven by HGVs it scales with the 4th power of axle weight. The difference between a 1.8t petrol car and a 2.2t EV is negligible compared to a 40t lorry. And if we're taxing extraction damage, shouldn't oil drilling, refining and spills be factored into fuel duty?

@Pauldunfy @TheRealJamieKay It’s included as part of both the vehicle tax as it varies by emissions and also fuel duty. EV should have an extra tax for the damage that extracting lithium does to the environment and the damage done to the roads by the extra weight of the vehicle.

£300 a year just for driving 10,000 miles. Pay-per-mile tax from 2028. Drive to work? Pay. Visit family? Pay. Live outside a big city? Pay more. Another “targeted” policy that hits ordinary people hardest.

@TheRealJamieKay Those of us who drive petrol or diesel pay fuel tax - only fair that EV drivers are also taxed. We pay far more. Naive of you to think that govt, any govt, would not seek to plug the gap left by fewer petrol and diesel cars. You had many years tax free.

@chillyrainbow @EMAY4K Also, £300 a month is really not going to affect me in anyway whatsoever, I'm not making minimum wage stacking shelves in Tesco. I have a great pension, lots of equity in my house, loads of savings. You're debating with the wrong person here.

@chillyrainbow @EMAY4K Haha, I'll be handing it back before the MOT...for petrol, you better factor in more wars and depleted fossil fuels, that aint following RPI in future. Anyway, where do your beloved used cars come from if nobody is allowed to buy new?

Some of the monthly figures I see people paying for financed cars actually mind boggling to me, £400/500 a month on some base spec, mercs/bmws etc before insurance, maintenance and fuel. my head would be on Mars man

@chillyrainbow @EMAY4K and the only reason I'm doing it is it's saving me money, I could not care less what anyone in the street thinks of me having a brand new electric car, could not give a toss. I spent years skint, working my way up and now I own my company. I know exactly where evry penny goes.

@chillyrainbow @EMAY4K I track all our income and expenditure on Family Wall, believe me, it's nothing. I've not even said what my new electric car is! it's literally arriving from the factory this week. No maintenance to worry about and cheap as chips to run.
