Thoughts on this …. In Australia if you cycle 11kph over the speed limit you get a fine of $333 and no helmet $166…..

@ArtistCyclist Interesting how all of this is no issue in countries where the 1.5 m rule does not exist.

Free parking, even for drop off, has huge social costs. Charging almost triple for staying longer than 15 minutes incentivises one to be quick when dropping people off, meaning more people can be dropped off and you don’t miss your flight stuck in a traffic jam

London Stansted Airport drop-off price rises from £7 to £10; £28 for 15-30 minutes. Greedy owners portray it as an environment friendly move. Public transport isn't always possible. It is about higher profits. No regulator will side with customers. bbc.co.uk/news/articles/…

@brumbitcoin About 8% of England is currently built upon so we’d need to cover a third more of our country with crap that won’t work when it’s dark or cold (when we’d need it the most)

@NoCyclopathTO Unless you’re going to charge pedestrians for walking, the cyclist is just going to walk through your toll plaza, as a pedestrian. Toll plazas which you’ll need on every street. This sounds like another winning idea

If every bike ride cost cyclopaths $5, we would wipe out all municipal debts in 10 years.

Reckless speeding is a public safety crisis. A small group of repeat offenders put our communities at risk every day. The Stop Super Speeders Act uses smart tech to prevent speeding before it happens, not just punish it after. Prevention over punishment. Safety isn’t negotiable.

The latest EV scare campaign that seems to have gained some traction is that the government will bring in an EV only road user charge to make up for the lost fuel excise revenue. Firstly, a road user charge would be like taxing vegetables while subsidising cigarettes but this argument also fails to understand that an EV has zero exhaust emissions including the particulates that have been proven to cause respiratory issues including asthma, cognitive developmental delays in young children, effects on unborn babies and so on and that’s not to mention any CO2 emissions. This saves the government a lot more in health care and other costs than any road tax would ever raise. The politicians know this, they now also know that >50% of their constituents are looking at an EV as their next car (and this was before the Iran conflict) so they won’t alienate half their voter base and hence why there will never be an EV only road user charge. @vivian39_ How do you plan on people getting more than a half mile from their homes without cars? Are you planning to trap people in their homes?

every parking lot in a city center is just a housing crisis lying flat on the ground in the sun waiting for someone to build on it. we don't have a land shortage we have an asphalt addiction

@LDNbybike Although I didn’t get footage, so a report wasn’t possible …. I did catch a driver who is a member of my running club, using their mobile phone. I certainly told them to put it down, and that they should be ashamed. No one is on a special list for leniency. They could all kill

Anybody been put off from doing a report because of the location of the incident? Near work, home, child's school, local shops etc. for fear of bumping into the person? Is it sometimes just not worth it? Head says report, heart says, but what if...

@DevinOlsenn What would happen if you only ever used loaners ? Are you at a point where you no longer need to actually own a car. Is it a seamless enough experience that whichever car you get into, you feel comfortable and settled. Transport as a Service moment has arrived?

The Tesla service experience is genuinely unmatched. Dropping off your car and instantly hopping into a loaner with your cloud profile already synced (seat position, saved locations, music) is something no other automaker is doing today. Plus, from the parking spot in the back of the lot, I literally pressed a button and the car drove me home. I try not to be a total Tesla fanboy, but days like this make you appreciate how good the ownership experience actually is.

You are five times more likely to survive being hit by a driver doing 20mph vs a driver doing 30mph. Great to see Enfield rolling out new life saving 20mph zones. Slow down. Slower speeds save lives. #VisionZeroLDN. 👏👏@EnfieldCouncil @JourneysPlaces

@TheSolarShed And conserving fossil-fuel energy has gone down in price. Ie if you conserve fossil-fuel energy this month, you are saving more money than if you did so last month. It’s the best value it’s been for a long time

@PeterSrebot @Daveyraveyrgave @ediz1975 As far as I know the only cycle prohibitions are against non-white-light at the front, and non-red-light at the rear. If you know of any other prohibition legislation please let me know the reference. In the absence of prohibition, yes a cyclist *may* use a non-conforming light

@let_part @Daveyraveyrgave @ediz1975 There is a law and bylaws on regulation. It must be bs conforming except if it is flashing only light (no steady option possible). In any case it must not dazzle (where 80% of flashing lighs would fail) Majority of thr bicycle lamps sold in the uk are not conforming to the law!

@let_part @Daveyraveyrgave @ediz1975 And even when changing the frame you forget that police can fine ovners of oldtimers if vehicle is not roadworthy. Owners must ensure it! Cycle with non-conforming lighs is not roadworthy. So what is your logic?
