The gut-brain axis, that strange nexus between your gut microbes and your moods, is a two-way street. Not only do microbes have a say in your mental state, but your mind can also influence those same microbes. psychologytoday.com/intl/blog/mood…

I was wrong with my number yesterday. Got the final number and the wire is complete. Wanted to be accurate. Do I expect all of it to be used wisely. Of course not. But I'm still proud to be able to give back to our country. I've said it for years. After military service, paying your taxes is the most patriotic thing we can do.

I pay what I owe. Tomorrow I will wire transfer to the IRS $288,000,000.00 This country has done so much for me, I’m proud to pay my taxes every single year. Tag a former president that you know doesn’t

@morganhousel Or a lifetime. Grasping the depth of some, like Tao Te Ching, could take you the entire lifetime and even then you may just get the gist of it.

There are exceptions, but in general I think a book should either take a month+ to finish reading or a weekend to finish reading.

Announcing - Invest America CEO Council. Outstanding CEOs who endorse helping every child share in the upside of 🇺🇸 by providing a 401k like private acct to the 3.7 M children born each yr seeded with $1000 by the Govt & invested in the S&P 500 - like a turbocharged piggybank from birth. Businesses and families can add to the acct but it can’t be traded. Member CEOs have expressed a strong willingness to contribute to the Invest America accounts of the children born to their employees at a level appropriate to their company. The Council will rapidly expand to include 100s of CEOs demonstrating the broad appeal of this common sense, bi-partisan solution. #publicprivatepartnership @MichaelDell @LisaSu @Benioff @dkhos @Rich_Barton @PittmanRadio @anthonynoto @InvestAmerica24

Frank Slootman is retiring as CEO of Snowflake. He grew the business from $4B to $75B in 5 years. Our conversation with him is one of our favorites. Here’s a taste of why and what makes him special: 1. I have never been too early to fire people. I have been too late. 2. Narrow the focus. If you have 5 or 10 priorities, you have 0. 3. Put as many resources on as few things as possible. 4. Operate through influence, not rank and title. Flatten your org chart. 5. Raise the bar. 6. Confrontation is our culture. People settle for the status quo. Fight it constantly. 7. Wage war on incrementalism. Pretend you have nothing, build something dazzling. 8. Trust is everything. Show your stakeholders you have their back. 9. Interviews are overrated. Talk to everyone who has worked with a candidate before. Do your homework. 10. Your sales problem is probably a product problem. 11. Sales is a highly repeatable, scalable, predictable process. 12. If you master and control your own distribution, you become insanely powerful. 13. Growth is not a mystery, it’s mechanical. 14. Keep pushing the boundaries of how fast you can grow. Never settle for good enough. 15. Past glories are poor feeding. 16. Re-prioritize all of the time. Work on the highest value task. Complete it, move on. Build momentum. 17. Never take shortcuts. 18. Playbooks don’t work. Think for yourself and understand things as they are. Every situation is different. 19. Amp it Up.
