Fellow Republicans: There has been considerable confusion surrounding last night’s State Central Committee meeting and the discussion regarding the three radical constitutional amendments Democrats are advancing for the November ballot. To clarify the record: the State Central Committee did NOT vote on the substance of the amendments, nor did it adopt an official position either supporting or opposing them. The ONLY motion voted upon was procedural. The motion asked whether the matter should be referred to the Resolutions Committee for further review and guidance, with a recommendation to be brought back before the State Central Committee at its next meeting for consideration and a formal vote at that time. That procedural motion passed by a vote of 32–30. As a result, NO official position was taken by the Republican Party of Virginia last night on the proposed constitutional amendments. The matter was DEFERRED for additional review and will return before the SCC at a future meeting—possibly as early as June 13. The amendments themselves raise serious concerns for many Virginians, particularly regarding abortion policy, voting rights restoration, and the redefinition of marriage in the Constitution. Reasonable Republicans may disagree on process, timing, and strategy. But we should ALL agree that our responsibility is to approach issues of this magnitude thoughtfully and transparently. Republicans are strongest when we remain grounded in principle, united in purpose, and focused on the future of the Commonwealth rather than internal division. The amendments were legislatively initiated in March of 2025, affirmed in January of this year-so, RPV et al has had one year and almost 3 months to review and guide. Typical Saturday for SCC, contemplating navels and arguing over Robert’s Rules. I guess the argument is really who gets to send out the mailers and how much $$ the media consultants get.

Personally, I believe this is the @VA_GOP way of saying to the committees around the state: "Think like us, act as we do & abstain, and our support of your committee will remain. Donald Trump's Great American State Fair — his big musical celebration of America's 250th birthday — features Vanilla Ice, a version of Milli Vanilli whose original member died in 1998, and Bret Michaels of Poison. Artists have been fleeing it since the day it was announced. Tom Morello just answered with the Foo Fighters, Bruce Springsteen, Dave Matthews, Joan Baez, Cypress Hill, Killer Mike, Dropkick Murphys, Jack Black, System of a Down's Serj Tankian, Alabama Shakes' Brittany Howard, Run-DMC's Darryl McDaniels, and Soundgarden/Pearl Jam drummer Matt Cameron. The contrast could not be more devastating. Morello's Power to the People Festival will take place on October 3rd at Merriweather Post Pavilion in Columbia, Maryland — exactly one month before the midterm elections — with any of a dozen acts on the bill capable of selling out the venue by themselves. Morello's lineup includes living legends who are actively touring, recording, and selling out arenas worldwide. Young MC fled Trump's concert because nobody told him it was political. C+C Music Factory's frontman stayed while saying on camera that he doesn't "f--- with Trump." Morris Day simply posted, "It's a no from me." Meanwhile, Springsteen announced his participation in the Power to the People event from a sold-out stadium in Washington DC during his “Land Of Hope & Dreams” tour. This is what the resistance sounds like. And it sounds a whole lot better than "Ice Ice Baby."
