@PennyJBarr

I meant to tweet pithily impressive comments about my entirely unplanned but happy career in the digital world. As it turns out, it's mostly food and cricket.

Barrie Kosky’s Siegfried at Covent Garden tonight was absolutely stunning — indeed one of the greatest Wagner productions I’ve ever seen, up there with Herheim’s Parsifal at Bayreuth. The singers and orchestra were on sublime form, the sets and direction just outstanding. Wow.

@edin1981 @captheatres Agree with all of that! (We wanted to put the subtitles on, but it seemed to crispen up after 20’ or so.)

The Constant Wife - ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️. One of the best shows I've seen in ages, but sadly the theatre was only a third or half full. The only challenge was the volume at the beginning; everyone was great on stage. 🎭 (4 April) @captheatres

@madebygoogle Thank you, I have done so. They don’t know if it has been reported to the development team and they don’t know if a fix is due. Would you be able to help by finding out? It would be great to let the thousands of Fitbit users whose health plans are on hold know. Thanks :-)

@madebygoogle Hi. It isn’t me or my Fitbit. It’s your app - the last under-tested update ruined a piece of core functionality which thousands of people are using. “It really makes the nutrition tracking function of Fitbit worthless.” Can you show some pace here please, and roll back or fix?

@PennyJBarr Hi, Penny. We're sorry to hear this. Please try to force quit the app, reboot your phone, and make sure your Fitbit app is updated to the latest version. If it persists, DM us your Fitbit email address, Fitbit model, full name, and country of residence, so we can take a look. twitter.com/messages/compo…

@moniquephotos @bencooper So do I, but the driver gets a Thank You whereas the awaiter(s) get more of a Ta. Just in case they were constrained to wait rather than actively intending to. So as to plant a seed about what may have been a drive-by courtesy, but acknowledge it if it was indeed intended.

@simongerman600 And then in Cricket you have 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿 in the same team, then Scotland and Irish Island. So new combination unlocked.

Most of my geography knowledge comes from watching sports. This of course makes some parts of the world a bit more confusing 🙃🤪

@simongerman600 And cricket is different again! England and Wales share a national team as do Ireland and Northern Ireland. Scotland has their own team

@chandsid @simongerman600 Well .. depends on the cricket. The test-playing nations are indeed England and Wales, known as England, and Ireland (since 2017) which fields players from the whole island of Ireland (like the rugby team). Scotland has ODI/T20 status.

@WillMarshall15 On Pink Day 2018 I seem to recall only 2 wickets fell all day and my nose got thoroughly burnt. We bunked off the next day and went to the Sydney Tomato Festival appropriately enough.

No matter what happens, it still won’t be as bad as Sydney 18. Both of the Marshes got hundreds, Dawid Malan scored 62 in 180 balls, Khawaja batted for about 8 years. Joe Root ended up emaciated in the dressing room whilst Australia celebrated under this fucking thing. Horrendous

@jeanne_darc1 @wutube That’s not really my experience - we’ve invariably been surrounded by pleasant, very well informed local people, all baffled at me raising a little eyebrow as they casually rise to get a beer right in the middle of the bowler’s run up. Just not an expectation I feel.

@wutube The fans at this game have been (mostly) really good in this regard. A lot of matches with Ind/Pak supporters have people getting up & down all the time, plus standing for long periods, despite people asking them to get out of the way.

Underrated factor behind slow over rates: lack of fan etiquette. If you're sitting behind sightscreen, it can't be that hard to wait until the end of over to leave (or return to your seat) for an ice cream. Any time is better than when bowler is at the top of their run. 🤦🏻‍♂️ #Ashes
