Hills I will die on as a doctor obsessed with cardiometabolic health: -Women are not “bad at self care.” They are drowning in invisible labor and mental load. -Sleep deprivation is a public health issue. -Chronic stress absolutely affects physical health. -You cannot wellness your way out of unaffordable healthcare, childcare, food, and housing. -Telling people to “just lose weight” without addressing mental health, food access, medications, medical conditions, sleep, finances, and time is just lazy. -A salad will not cancel out a strained healthcare system. -Postpartum recovery deserves the same seriousness as any other major medical event. -Wellness misinformation has harmed people’s relationship with food more than fruit ever will. -Prevention is important, but not every illness is a personal failure. -A healthy woman is not a luxury. She is the backbone of families, communities, and society.

Traffic to the Yosemite entrance gate backed up to El Portal Market--that is over three miles. Read reports that parking in Yosemite Valley was full this morning, so when these folks arrive in the Valley, there is nowhere to park. Park leadership is being careless with such a precious place they were entrusted to preserve by allowing this.

So the best case scenario floated right now by Trump admin is they do a deal with Iran that is much weaker than Obama’s non-nuclear deal and Iran gives a waiver permitting countries to cross the Strait of Hormuz which was opened before the war. Art of the deal.

Trump will have: * Torn up Obama’s deal * Spent billions * Depleted US critical supplies * Cost tens of billions in US Gulf infrastructure damage * Lost American lives All to get: * A worse deal than the one he tore up And MAGA will screech and shout “TDS” if you question it.

@DavidLBrownMD I had appendicitis when I was an intern; made to return to work 5 d postop. Still had staples on my incision (pre lap era). Surgeon said a pt w/ a “normal job” would be told they needed to take 6 wks off. The kicker? I was on “float” at the time, to cover any unexpected absences

When I was an intern I developed massive acute bronchospasm from exposure to cat dander. I ended up intubated in the ICU at one of my program’s teaching hospitals. Thanks to high dose steroids, I was extubated the next day. The nurse then handed me the phone to answer a call.

Never in my wildest imagination did I think I would be called into special session over Memorial Day weekend and have to argue that military members and their spouses deserve to have their votes counted after they already cast their ballots. But here we are. South Carolina is trying to rush through new congressional maps while the election process is already underway. Military and overseas voters followed the rules. They requested their ballots. They voted. They sent them back. Now, because politicians want to change the maps at the last minute, those voters could have their ballots thrown out through no fault of their own. That is unacceptable. I have an amendment that says if the congressional primaries are moved to August, those military and overseas voters should automatically receive a new ballot for the new primary. That should not be controversial. But apparently, some folks are fighting me on it. Some days it feels like I am living in the upside down. It is Memorial Day weekend, and I am having to fight to protect the voting rights of the very people serving our country. If we say we support our veterans, our military members, and their families, then we should start by making sure their votes count. Standing strong. Holding the line.
