@BenInRushcliffe @AyoCaesar Numbers suggest that this result is certainly a protest vote against Labour not necessarily an endorsement for the greens. Things need to change in govt and I think Starmer should think about his future. Saying that, I’m happy greens have won over reform.

Gorton and Denton was 127th on the Greens target list (they came third in 2024, with 13% of the vote). Two things: 1) There is no longer such thing as a 'safe seat' for Labour. 2) The Greens are going to have to work out how to run an expansive campaign in 2029, without sacrificing efficient targeting.

"Family voting" - of which police and polling station staff saw no evidence during the vote - is totally made up horseshit intended to cast suspicion on ethnic minorities for having the temerity to exercise their democratic right. That's it.
