@Birduder344 Car parking needs a phone app, but reception is pretty bad with some networks.

Is there anyone on here who has been to see the Zitting Cisticola in Suffolk? Looking (realise it’s difficult) for directions. Went yesterday, there’s a large area of hawthorn type scrub and wondered where it’s seen in relation to that. Not sure I walked far enough. Thanks

Somehow it’s 20 years ago today that Buncefield oil depot exploded. Being less than 3 miles away I woke thinking the trains had crashed at the bottom of the garden but was awoken later on by my then gf saying look out the window! #Buncefield

@holmebirdobs Always enjoyed meeting you on my now sadly infrequent (long term health issues myself) visits. I do hope you make a full recovery and hope you are able to get out birding as much as health allows.

It is with heavy hearts that the Council of Trustees has to announce that due to continuing ill health Sophie has made the difficult decision to step down as Warden at Holme Bird Observatory.  Sophie has provided us with a farewell message to share with you all (🧵1/6):

10 hours over 3 days but finally MOURNING DOVE is on the list. Currently roosting and a bit hidden but have seen it in full view. Number 499 (until the lumping when I lose 3)! 😮‍💨 🥳

Well well well after 26 years the 1999 Cornish Booted Eagle has finally been added to Cat A. It was always going to happen my only worry was that I’d find out through a medium😁 Here’s one I did earlier.

@saddleblaze @Strava @Garmin @StravaSupport @GarminUK I get the same with my walking data. Fenix says 4.6 miles today, phone says 3.9. The phone distance also increases while travelling as a car passenger 🤔 I’m assuming arm movement and vibration plays a part.

The same run - on the left recorded directly on @Strava app on my iPhone, on the right recorded on my @Garmin Fenix 6x watch. Which to believe? Moving time practically the same but distance different by over one kilometre!!

Unexpected birding gold (quite literally) on Xmas Eve when news broke of a Yellow Warbler in Kent! One of my best birds of 2024 for sure! 🎄

Hadn’t set out to have any kid of big year other than to hit my goal of 224 species! Now I’m tempted to try for 260 before the end of the year 👀
