@YouTubeInsider Opt OUT?! Holy hell it's mind-blowing watching you guys blow this one. Shorts all have an AI-slop sheen to them now. Shouldn't even be opt-in with this quality. YouTube must've thought,💡"But what if our videos looked like shit?"

@arnoldkim @eslivka @julipuli @MacRumors ...and just to double-check that it wasn't just me, I used some advanced Google-fu to see exactly how many beta-related news posts have been made to MacRumors. 😳

@arnoldkim @eslivka @julipuli It feels like the @MacRumors homepage is becoming more and more the 100 posts about OS Betas. Have you considered just giving it a dedicated section to help the homepage focus on rumors and news?

@jdalrymple This hits home with me. Siri was introduced over 12 years ago (!!) and while I’m confident they’ve made improvements in the background over that time, it sure FEELS like it’s only gotten worse.

I think part of my big problem is trust. Apple has lost it when it comes to Siri. I have zero confidence that they’ll ever change Siri for the better. To lose trust in a company I admire so much is very sad.

@StormGarelli @jdalrymple Once in the car I asked it to play a song, by song name, then song name and the band’s name - only for it to reply (every time) with, “Now opening Overcast.” And even then, it didn’t open the Overcast app either lol.

@jdalrymple When the HomePods were first launched, Apple said the onboard Siri had deep knowledge of music. 5 years later it still pronounces live albums as if “live” rhymes with “give”. And it still thinks Rush had an album called “Two Thousand, One Hundred, and Twelve”. Embarrassing. 🙄

Siri has done what no person could for 30 years: Make me stop using an Apple product. I am giving up on my 8 HomePods/minis out of the sheer frustration of trying to use Siri. I’ve been in tech for 30 years and this is one of the worst technologies ever and only getting worse

@secondfret @jdalrymple Man, you’re right. I’ve thought they should make a very bold “Siri 2.0” announcement, but it’s true the name Siri is so spoiled that they should ditch it. Would also allow them to come up with a new 3-syllable name (like “Alexa” - less accidental triggers, but still one word).

I honestly think Apple should kill the Siri brand. I’m not sure it can recover from the universal understanding that it’s just not good. Launch an LLM-powered assistant that actually does things, call it something else. Let Siri die.
Jim Dalrymple@jdalrymple

As proud as Apple should be about its products, they should be equally as embarrassed and horrified for unleashing Siri on us and telling us it works just fine. I have two Alexa speakers so far. It kills me, but Alexa is incredible. It responds immediately to every command.

@YT_Serge_M Just want to make sure I'm not going crazy. Does this disappearing keyframe buttons bug STILL happen to you? I'm getting pretty sick of toggling the Transform button off and on again.

@tim_cook @apple @AppleSupport Who is in charge of the macOS Finder sidebar? For *years* this keeps happening, where the names of the folders and drives get cropped because the sidebar keeps resizing itself. It's annoying as hell. Fix it.

@killedbygoogle @codyogden Haha sorry I didn’t mean for my tweet to have a “tone” to it, was honestly curious so I would know if I should stop emailing the knife email address with killed products. 😆

@gruber @daringfireball Turns out this conversation was more relevant to the Vision Pro announcement than we knew! ...and I guess they found a way to get around that challenge. 😁

@gruber @daringfireball That’s why I said “biggest hurdle” because yeah I can’t fathom a way they’d get around that challenge.

@Rwlpalmer @TechCrunch @Apple Apparently you can also plug it into the wall for unlimited use, so I'm curious if it'll ship with a longer cord. Also wondering if you can swap battery packs without losing power.

@gruber @daringfireball Haha maybe, but I was picturing the users real eyes (via user facing cameras around the eyes I guess?)

@Pifman @daringfireball If I answered the door and someone was wearing an outward-facing screen on goggles with fake eyes, I’d find it creepier than a regular VR headset.

@daringfireball @gruber To me the biggest hurdle would be finding a way to give the illusion that your eyes are sized and placed correctly (depth-wise), and not on the surface of the screen.

@daringfireball @gruber What if seeing out was always a two-way street? Imagine greeting a pizza delivery boy with current VR goggles on. Ridiculous. Now imagine the pizza boy can see your eyes, and now knows you can see them too. A world of difference.
