let’s start some more nyc neighborhood discourse. there’s a new-ish coffee shop in my neighborhood, which i would describe as “kips bay”. but if you ever look at google maps it shows my area as “rose hill” which to me is not real. no one ever says that or probably knows what that is. the other day i walk past this coffee shop again and they’ve crossed out kips bay and written “rose hill”. what do yall think. is this a “stop trying to make fetch happen” situation or should we start balkanizing kips bay ?

Still find it funny when I meet new people and they are shocked when I say we go in to the office everyday at xai and they think 5 days

@captgouda24 how do you account for more of the disciplined elements taking it more leading to a decline in usage from productive society members?

The case for free buses is actually really strong. They take people off the road, and make traffic better for everyone. At the very least, we should not expect them to make back their expenses at the farebox. Read it all below:

@ashwinl @mathburritos @teddypowday in pre-LLM terms, its like a CEO started making videos of how his zshrc is world changing when a) every dev has their own version and b) its the most basic shit out there its unclear why he continues to believe it and no one else around him says how ridiculous it is

Silicon Valley millenial culture is so weird. Every single reply is “gee shucks, how great!” Yo, if my girlfriend is emailing men in my age cohort who are significantly more successful than I am, I need a new girlfriend.

Any number in the numerator other then 0 is a major problem. There isn’t a perfect way to share a denominator in this case because of how PRs can enter and leave merge groups and how the merge method can be changed. So we can share the impacted PRs decisively but the denominator less so some went with the day’s amount. There were about 800K PRs that were being merged during the period of the incident.

Wanted to provide more clarity about this. Yesterday, we had a regression in merge queue behavior where, in some cases, squash or rebase commits were generated from the wrong base state, making earlier changes appear reverted in branch history. 2,804 pull requests out of over 4M merged on April 23 (roughly 0.07%) were affected. We fixed the issue, we've contacted every impacted customer, and we're expanding our automated test coverage for merge queue operations. The team will be updating the status page with RCA details as well.
Tom Elliott@theotherelliott

This GitHub incident is insane. Merge queue commits have been reverting previously merged commits at random. This not only breaks the mental contract teams have with Git in general, but is subtle enough to be really hard to unravel after the fact. githubstatus.com/incidents/zsg1…

I feel bad dunking on them so much but it's genuinely absurd how bad the new Claude Code desktop app is. You can feel the vibe code leaking everywhere. Every "feature" is barely integrated and full of edge cases that weren't considered. Every menu feels barren, stuffed in last second for some random toggle. Every hotkey breaks as soon as you try to do anything else. I've lost track of how many bugs I've encountered. I found at least 40 in under an hour. And it's all truly absurd arcane shit. Stuff like voice mode typing in all input boxes instead of just the one you have focused. Any one of these issues would have been enough for me to do a massive post-mortem and likely fire someone. A $400b company shipping this is absurd. I feel like I'm going mad. How does anyone seriously use this?? It is broken on fundamental levels that are hard to comprehend. How are we supposed to trust the code these models produce if Anthropic's official showcases are absolute slop? Dedicated video on this coming tomorrow. Just needed to get this off my chest.
