MacFarlane: What did you make of the president saying he loves inflation? Welch: It’s pretty bizarre. He does not get what’s happening with everyday people. This is happening because of the war. He made a unilateral decision to go to war. He said yes to Netanyahu, and he said no to his own advisers. He’s flailing, and there are no negotiations. It’s really about the president trying to get a face-saving outcome so he can make the assertion that we’re better off, but we’re nowhere.

NEW: Democrat Rep. Summer Lee says black Americans will stop voting if they start thinking they will never be paid reparations for slavery. "We fight for reparations because it’s owed us. It is owed us," Lee said. "If you believe that you're never gonna get reparations from the system, then you tap out. And you don't just tap out of the conversation, you tap out of the system. You don't wanna vote anymore."

@JM_speakss I think the main issue deals w/ where you live. Many Bitcoiners are against the system. The gross taxation & misappropriation of those taxes to name a few If you can borrow responsibly against your Bitcoin assets in the future, w/out selling, that is the way of the wealthy

When Bitcoin hits $250k, I am absolutely selling some. I made the mistake for two cycles of not taking profits. Here’s the truth: We live in a fiat world. There is nothing wrong with selling a portion of your Bitcoin to make your life easier, help your family, pay off a mortgage, buy back your time, or retire early. At some point, the goal isn’t to die with your Bitcoin. The goal is to use Bitcoin to build the life you actually want. That still makes you a bitcoiner. I’ll always keep some and even pass a portion down to my future kids. But at $250k, I’m taking profits. Everyone says they’ll never sell. The market eventually finds everyone’s price. What’s yours?

@mrlongshore Oh, sure. You just want us to believe that TTU is “fighting for their family” and it has nothing to do with them desperately wanting to out do their Texas counterparts. Got it.

I understand why people are uncomfortable with the Brendan Sorsby situation. Betting on sports as a college athlete is serious. Betting connected to your own team creates an obvious integrity concern. Nobody has to minimize that. But there is another side to this that college football people should at least be honest enough to acknowledge. When a player becomes part of your program, he becomes part of your football family. That does not mean you excuse everything. It does not mean accountability disappears. It means you do not abandon him the second the situation becomes difficult, public, or uncomfortable. There is a difference between defending the person and defending the mistake. Texas Tech is in an impossible spot. Deep down, they may have hoped the final ruling would remove the decision from their hands. Exhaust every option, support the player, let the process play out, and if he is ruled ineligible, accept it. That is the cleanest outcome for a program trying to balance loyalty, discipline, public pressure, and competitive integrity. But now the court has ruled that he is legally allowed to play. That changes the structure of the decision. If Texas Tech turns its back on him now, what message does that send to every player and family they recruit? That we will fight for you until the pressure gets too loud? That we will call you family when you are producing, but distance ourselves when standing beside you becomes inconvenient? If I were recruiting against Texas Tech and they abandoned him after he was legally cleared to play, I would use that every time. Not because the mistake does not matter, but because trust matters. Families want to know what happens when their son is injured, struggling, accused, embarrassed, or sitting in the middle of a situation nobody wants attached to the program. Accountability and loyalty are not opposites. You can believe justice should be served. You can believe the integrity of the game matters. You can believe gambling violations deserve real consequence. You can also believe that a program should stand by its people through the full process, not just through the easy parts. That is the hard part of family. You do not only fight for your people when the optics are clean. You fight for them through the good and the bad, while still demanding accountability, treatment, discipline, and truth. Texas Tech may not like the position it is in. Most programs would not. But once he is legally allowed to play and remains part of the Red Raider family, abandoning him strictly because of social pressure would send its own message. And that message may be harder to overcome than the controversy itself.

This is the most rigorous Bitcoin paper I've read. I've been studying — and testing — it for 20 days. scientificbitcoininstitute.org/research/publi… Dr. Santostasi and Dr. Perrenod gave us the ruler — and the imagination to see the oscillator. Together: the most falsifiable framework in crypto economics. The Power Law isn't just a model — it's the most precise ruler we have for measuring where Bitcoin stands. Most models describe the past. The Power Law keeps passing tests it was never designed for. "Isn't β=5.69 just curve-fitting?" Fair question. So I ran a test the paper didn't. ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ Materials & Methods ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ Data: Daily closing price and non-zero balance address count (BitcoinMagazinePro, 2010-08-17 to 2026-06-04, n=5,771). Model: log₁₀P(t) = log₁₀A + β·log₁₀(t) where t = days since Genesis Block (2009-01-03). Out-of-sample design: The power law was fitted exclusively on data up to the freeze date, with zero observations from the test period used in estimation. Two freeze points were tested: ① Freeze at 2016-07-08 (2nd halving) Training: n=2,153 | Test: n=3,617 (10 years) ② Freeze at 2020-05-10 (3rd halving) Training: n=3,555 | Test: n=2,215 (6 years) Residuals computed as: ε = log₁₀(P_observed / P_predicted) normalized by in-sample σ. Mean residual and area integrals (trapezoidal rule) applied to test period only. The out-of-sample test was my idea. Computation and analysis executed with Claude Opus 4.8 (Anthropic). ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ Froze the power law using data up to 2016 only (β=5.717). Then measured the following 10 years it had never seen. Result: mean residual −0.05σ. Effectively zero. Frozen at 2020 instead → next 6 years, −0.13σ. Same story. The line drawn in 2016 ran straight through the next decade. That's not fitting. That's forecasting. The Power Law: powerful because it can be broken — and hasn't been. Knowing where we are won't tell us when things will happen — but it tells us exactly what to do now. The State has one purpose: to enforce the Law. The purpose of the Law is to organize for the collective defense of private property (the most essential form of which is your body, your physical safety). We give the State the monopoly on legal violence so they may use violence to protect us and our property from plunderers and invaders who seek to harm our bodies and steal our property. When the State fails to enforce the Law, fails to use violence against plunderers and invaders, that is a Failed State. When you live in a Failed State, where the State abdicates its duty to enforce the Law and defend its citizens, ordinary men are forced to enforce the Law themselves. Ordinary men are forced to use violence against violent plunderers. Ordinary men do not want to use violence; they are not violent men. They are simply men who want to protect their families, their property, and their country from the real violent men who seek to destroy everything they love and hold dear. The UK is a Failed State. It seems ordinary men in Belfast have finally had enough.
