I used to work as a pharmacy tech over ten years ago before hydrocodone became a schedule II. Even then there was shady doctors we'd refuse to take scripts from. One time this pharmacist I worked with filled the same script photo copied. A filler pharmacist caught it and the police came and arrested the people after they picked it up. But anyways, back then at least, if it was a known pill mill, the pharmacist wouldn't fill it. Or if it was from an office too far away. The best thing is to use the same pharmacy and have your doctor be known to that pharmacy. You probably already do that I'm guessing, but that's just what I remember. It's really hard to weed out the abusers and it is a dangerous drug. If someone OD'ed, at least back then in my state, the pharmacy could get in trouble.

Pharmacists today aren’t just filling prescriptions anymore. They’ve been turned into gatekeepers, sometimes even “bouncers,” of pain medication. And look, I understand they have a responsibility to verify safety. But from what I’ve experienced and what many others have experienced, isn’t professionalism. It’s interrogation. It’s defensiveness. It’s being treated like you did something wrong… for bringing in a prescription written by a licensed physician. There’s a difference between: “I have concerns, let’s go over this together” and immediately assuming the worst and escalating the situation. You can refuse to fill a prescription. But how you treat people in that moment matters just as much. Curious, what have your experiences been like at pharmacies lately?

@VinoNStrosGal Friend had an operation pharmacist wouldn’t fill their script for pain meds, was suspicious/paranoid. A Dr told me he was ordered to reduce scripts for pain, even to long standing patients. Policing/surveillance of HCW is getting out of hand.

I hope @EmmaRaducanu doesn’t have Long Covid but this is getting ridiculous. At some point, athletes need to confront reality, silence their handlers & protect themselves. Long Covid can’t be beaten by playing through it. Learn what airborne means & wear a respirator to prevent further infections!

@brownecfm Being odd/different has set me apart for yrs, but it’s paid off, I’m protecting my health by masking. I’ve also wondered about how common denial is. Must be part of the human condition, evolution, but it’s not helping humanity anymore.

To not wear a mask. My whole life, I've never seen anything close to it. People would rather get sick than stand out. In the world we live in now, being immune to peer pressure is an extremely high value trait. It could save your life or someone else's.

@Nalanthian People misusing drugs didn’t suddenly appear one day. That’s been around as long as medicine itself. The real issue is figuring out how to treat people in genuine pain without assuming everyone is a “pill seeker.”

Can you imagine time traveling back to the 1990s, when doctors were taught that pain was the 5th vital sign? There was a time when clinicians couldn’t tolerate watching a patient sit in agony. If someone came into the ER with kidney stones, appendicitis, or a broken bone, relieving pain was part of the priority. Somewhere along the way the culture shifted. Now people can sit in waiting rooms doubled over in pain while everyone around them pretends not to hear it. Compassion used to be the baseline.

The biggest action the media engage in to minimise or destroy MFW’s reputation is to attribute our successes to other factors. This means while some do now briefly mention our campaign, they tend to only refer to us in passing then imply other factors are or were more important. It’s an insidious way to boot us out of the main picture. So let’s have a more detailed look at whether they’re telling porkies. We’ll do this by describing (as briefly as we can) two scenarios: the one which happened, and the one which WOULD HAVE HAPPENED if MFW didn’t exist. Here goes: SCENARIO ONE What happened: Kyle and Jackie started in Melbourne and MFW decided we didn’t want the show to go national, so started #VileKyle in May 2024. Advertisers fled, ratings tanked in Melbourne, the share price nose-dived, the show was unable to spread nationally as planned, Kyle and Jackie got more and more stressed at each other, the company lost tens of millions, then the on-air blow-up led to ARN saying Kyle may have breached his contract. The now-probability (though not certainty) Kyle will be off air for good and Jackie may come back elsewhere on ARN or elsewhere alone or with another partner (but will not be targeted by MFW unless new content is untenable). Result: Kyle and Jackie’s misogynist, hateful content may be gone for good from mainstream radio. 1/3

The future will belong to whoever can say the forbidden sentence plainly: The American people are ruled by a class they should neither admire nor obey. A class of war profiteers, narrative managers, donors, fixers, kompromat courtiers, and respectable degenerates hiding behind flags and procedural language. I still find it completely mindboggling that doctors basically all just agreed among themselves that if something is a common airborne infection, it is therefore effectively trivial, but also unstoppable, and just something everyone has to put up with.

I suspect that this problem is more pervasive than one journal. As an editor, reviewer and author, I have come across academic dishonesty, plagiarism, favoritism, biases and misrepresentation of my own work in other people's papers. Just recently, I had two instances of authors citing my papers to support statements that they made that say the opposite of what my papers have said. When I tried to correct the error, the editor simply rejected my letter. Through this rejection, the editor didn't allow the authors an opportunity to correct their mistake.
