Random thoughts and Haiku. Some good, some bad. Some too serious, some not serious enough.

Not really interested in testing this. I'll take y'all word on it.
King of the Marsh@KingVelesI

As someone who hasn't washed AT ALL in four and a half years now (no, not even with water), I can tell you this is 100% true. The idea that humans simply smell terrible to each other by default is one of the most ridiculous, unhealthy, and widespread myths of our time. First of all, no, my nose didn't simply "get used to my own smell". My wife, who still washes (because she enjoys it), says I don't smell at all, and no other member of my family complains about me smelling (and believe me, some of them wouldn't dream of missing the opportunity to tell me I stink, if indeed I did). This idea that people just keep smelling worse and worse if they stop washing is completely ridiculous, and only folks who have zero experience with not washing for extended periods of time believe it. Same for all the silly horror stories about rashes, infections, and thick crusts of dirt accumulating on your skin. You can see my body in the picture. Do you see any of that? Healthy human skin is self-cleaning. People simply destroy their skin's microbiome by constantly scrubbing themselves with aggressive cleaning agents. Then, when they get dirty and sweaty, there's nothing on that barren moonscape of a skin to clean the mess up and they start smelling. You smell BECAUSE you wash (too much). Likewise, your hair gets oily BECAUSE you constantly shampoo it. Years ago, I had to wash my hair twice a day for it not to get greasy. Now, I never wash it and it's never greasy. The good news is that if you stop washing, your skin and hair will heal, and you will no longer smell by default. The bad news is that you WILL smell for a few weeks, until your microbiome reestablishes itself. Wife told me this transition period wasn't too bad in my case, but your mileage may vary. On the other hand, it might take months for your hair to stop being a greasy mess, especially if it's long. The important part is not caving and washing it before the transition period ends, as this will just irritate the scalp again, and make it produce more oil. I gave you the truth, you do what you want with it.

SOUND ON. You’re hearing the first howl of a dire wolf in over 10,000 years. Meet Romulus and Remus—the world’s first de-extinct animals, born on October 1, 2024. The dire wolf has been extinct for over 10,000 years. These two wolves were brought back from extinction using genetic edits derived from a complete dire wolf genome, meticulously reconstructed by Colossal from ancient DNA found in fossils dating back 11,500 and 72,000 years. This moment marks not only a milestone for us as a company but also a leap forward for science, conservation, and humanity. From the beginning, our goal has been clear: “To revolutionize history and be the first company to use CRISPR technology successfully in the de-extinction of previously lost species.” By achieving this, we continue to push forward our broader mission on—accepting humanity’s duty to restore Earth to a healthier state. But this isn’t just our moment—it’s one for science, our planet, and humankind. All of which we love and are passionate about. Now, close your eyes and listen to that howl once more. Think about what this means for all of us.

Just do the warm-up… Then just the first exercise… Then just one hard set… Then just one more… Next thing I know, I’m in the zone—motivation kicks in, I finish strong, and I feel incredible after. This has happened more times than I can count. Action creates momentum.

If you're struggling in a workout or race, break it down. Get to the next lap, tree, turn, whatever. Give yourself bite size chunks that you can manage. You'd be surprised how long you can keep bargaining with yourself to make it to the next landmark.

@AJA_Cortes I tracked for a year to collect some data. Once I sorted out what worked best for a good night’s sleep, I stopped. Sleep has been steady improved over before I tracked.

Unpopular opinion: Sleep tracking isn't always helpful. I had a client who ditched their sleep tracker last month. His sleep anxiety dropped instantly. Sometimes more data = more stress Are you tracking sleep? Has it helped or stressed you out more?

Tipping in America feels like a broken system. I don't get why taxes aren't included in the prices, and then you're expected to add an extra 18-20% on top? Also, tips for basic service like a coffee order seems EXTREMELY excessive to me.

As a metric system human, I remember being in a fabric store asking "How much is a yard," the lady kept saying "it's $3.99" and me replying "no no, like, how BIG is a yard," her looking at me confused. This flow chart is life-changing - at least for cooking..
