John Schneider: We’ve almost won the World Series. Miguel Rojas is up. What should we throw to him? ChatGPT: Throw him a slider down the middle. It’s not just a good pitch—it’s a statement of confidence. The batter will never see what’s coming.

MLB has effectively outlawed use of league-provided dugout iPads to access generative AI, which some teams had increasingly leaned upon to help shape in-game strategy, per @TheAthletic.

Matt Maiocco was asked if Brock Purdy is a Top-10 quarterback: “I’d say 5 games into the season, Brock will have attempted 147 passes by then, when he hits 147, that gives him 1,500 pass attempts for his NFL career. At this pace, as long as those 147 passes go like his previous 1,353 have gone, Brock will be the all-time leading player in NFL history when it comes to passer rating. Right now, he’s at 104.0 and currently atop the list in NFL history are Aaron Rodgers and Lamar Jackson at 102.2. So, if that’s not a top-10 quarterback, then I’m not sure what is.” via: @knbrmurph | @MarkusBoucher

Landon says you would've had to drag him off the field in a World Cup knockout game. "The reality is, Tim, [Pulisic] came out of a World Cup knockout game at home with his leg still intact. I'm saying this to you, Tim, and you know it because you've played with me, you would've had to fucking drag me off the field. And I would've punched the doctor in the face and said, 'You're not taking me off the field. Put whatever you need to put in me, and I'm staying on the field.' I told you this before, I never shared this publicly until a few months ago, I played with a torn hamstring against Ghana after the Algeria game. Nobody knew about it. I didn't have to tell anyone. There was no drama around it. I just did it."

This narrative that the World Cup is rigged for the US just doesn’t add up: - Placed on the side of the bracket with Germany, Morocco, Netherlands, Portugal, Spain, and France - Refereeing across all 4 US matches has not been favorable to the US - Were given a red in a knockout match with 30 minutes left to play This is the supposed “corruption” in favor of the US? The real investigation needs to be made on the preferential treatment of Argentina.

Homenaje a mamá🫶

Head coach Mauricio Pochettino launched an impassioned defense of the controversial decision to suspend Folarin Balogun’s red-card ban, thereby allowing the USA forward to play against Belgium in the round of 16 Monday. “If anyone was harmed in this whole situation, it was the United States. Can anyone justify the idea that we weren’t punished? I mean, playing 30 or 35 minutes a man down in a World Cup knockout match? It’s not as if we’re benefiting. No, no. There’s no extraordinary gain we’re getting out of all this. I mean, ultimately, we aren’t victims, but we aren’t the villains of this story either.” More from @tombogert: nyti.ms/4p2R11j

🇺🇸 USMNT head coach Mauricio Pochettino on Flo Balogun: “We were punished enough against Bosnia to play with 10 men for 30 minutes, in a decision that was unfair. It’s not because I’m the head coach of the USA… I think 99.9% of people agree it was an unfair red card.”
