Taxpayer dollars should never reward people who break our laws. @SenThomTillis is right: using public funds to compensate these pardoned allies is "stupid on stilts." This is a principled fight by Republicans & Democrats against the corrupt abuse of taxpayer money.

Good. No president — Republican or Democrat — should have access to a $1.8 billion settlement fund that could be used to reward friends and allies. Republicans have an easy off-ramp here: protect taxpayers, defend Congress’s role, and say no to executive slush funds.
