I’m looking forward to our trade mission to India to grow opportunities for Saskatchewan food and energy exports. With $18 billion in exports since 2007, India is a vital partner. Working with Prime Minister @MarkJCarney, we’ll expand market access, strengthen trade ties, and support jobs here at home while helping meet global food and energy needs.

The best way to accurately predict where deforestation will occur? By identifying 'Ghost Roads'. 200 people spent 7,000 hours identifying them. Here's what you need to know about it:

@Agronomydoc @SaskWheat For wheat 15 is the magic conversion number for T/ha (Mg/ha) to bu/acre. So the durum yields are hitting close to 70 bu/ac (Impressive; 4.6 x 15) and the 0.2 t/ha differences are equal to about 3 bu/acre. And @CDC_USask for the win!

Finalizing results from the #ultraearly #durum project. Variety matters more at dormant and ultra-early seeding vs. late, as does depth of seed placement. Thanks @SaskWheat for funding this work!

38 hours on the road. Thousands of miles. Countless fields of wheat. 🌾   Back on July 28th, I stuck my neck out and predicted a record-breaking wheat crop for Canada after hitting the road and seeing it with my own eyes.   Some folks scoffed. Some said I was dreaming. Heck, even @CJWWnews picked up on it, and the critics came out swinging. One of my buddies called me and said "you have to stop doing your crop inspections at 150 km/hr"😉   But here we are: 📈 34,958,232 MMT 🏆 New Record! Eclipsing the 2022 record of 34,806,782 MMT. Turns out, I wasn’t dreaming. To all the doubters, let me say this: Nothing beats trusting what you see. 🌾👀   #WheatWatch2024 #CalledIt #RecordBreaker #Vindicated

@SE_ResearchFarm You can also contact the journal if the PI doesn’t think your contribution was “significant”. It’s best to have these discussions at the beginning of a collaboration- we have learnt the hard way.

Yes we get paid to do research. So do the technicians, profs, and grad students at Universities. We all are expecting to get paid for our work. And should be getting co-author, even if it is the end of the list.

I'm getting pretty tired of being left off of co-authorship on grad student projects when we do most of the work for our sites!

With meeting/tradeshow season underway, general reminder that there will always be agronomic exceptions that produce miracle results as one offs. Try to transfer one-off exceptions to a farm scale rule? You're going to have a bad time. Biologicals/Soil health/Primers are valuable tools. Better tools are being realistic with your banded fertilizer rates and CEC's of your soils. Getting better makes things easier in the wrong run. If you don't expect a bit of pain off the start- the outcome you want isn't one you're likely to get. #westcdnag #agronomy #fertility
