Andrew Painter made another start, and his fastball shape looked much better Both the shape and velocity are lagging behind his pre-injury levels, but it was a significant improvement from his last game. This is encouraging, but still makes me bearish about Painter this year

@DBCJason I feel like the only knock against Anderson is his reliance on screens, but P&R is by far the most common play type in NBA soo🤷‍♀️

My favorite Anderson trait, by far, is how relentless he is in punishing drop coverage. CA comes off every screen looking to pull up from three at all times. Through 26 games he’s shot 62 threes out of PnRs where the big plays below the level, and he’s made 50%(!!) of them.

On paper, Christian Anderson’s off-the-dribble three point shooting season has one peer: Trae Young I watched every three he’s taken this year and dug deeper into the data to see just how high of an offensive ceiling Texas Tech’s star guard has from deep⬇️

AAA prospects with a 90th EV > 107 MPH & Chase% < 23%: - Emmanuel Rodriguez - Ryan Clifford - Henry Bolte - Carter Jensen* - Junior Perez - Chase DeLauter* This is the most elite set of prospects that consistently combine elite EV's with a fantastic approach.

@PointMadeLiam The counter argument is he could have even more space to operate in the lane with NBA spacing

Every time I watch Flemings I find myself having the same, possibly misguided thought: I just can’t see him penetrating the lane this easily against an NBA defence, he can find ways to be an effective NBA player but Idk I see him as a walking paint touch

@TheCollinDunks Definitely attitude/comments that have rubbed a very loud and online fan base the wrong way. He’s objectively a good young player.

The way people talk about Brandin Podziemski you’d think he was Cody Williams Dude is having a down year and is still a net positive shooting 40% from 3 and all around efficient

Can’t believe people are still sleeping on a pitcher who was 19-years-old this season making professional hitters look like this 😮‍💨

iowa state frosh killyan toure made life hell for bennett stirtz, loaded with length, flexibility, fluid hips and tight footwork. i tagged toure with 8 net def. impact plays/40 vs iowa, the third highest mark of any guard this cycle in a single game (DP vs miz, fland vs zona)!

@redrock_bball Kon’s upside has always been slept on cause he’s white and doughy. His combination of processing and shooting gravity is elite (Haliburton-esque?). And he has way more functional athleticism than people realize thanks to his strength, footwork and ability to play off 2 feet.

Someone is going to have Aday Mara over AJ Dybantsa on their draft board by January 1
OptaSTATS@OptaSTATS

Aday Mara of @umichbball is the first Division I or NBA player to have: 30+ points 25+ rebounds 10+ blocks 5+ assists ...over his first 2 games of a season since Tim Duncan did it for the Spurs in 2003-04.

@TheCollinDunks I honestly think these metrics are mostly noise man. Especially for young and unestablished players, they just add confusion and doubt to the evaluation.

I feel like I’m having a hard time understanding O-DPM How is it that the wiz kids are still pretty negative despite being efficient? I’d understand D-DPM being bad but can someone explain this to me?

Which consensus lottery picks do you think have the most volatile draft stock? I could really see a few guys dropping massively if things go wrong - Chris Cenac - Tounde Yessoufou - Mikel Brown Jr - Nate Ament - Koa Peat I don’t think it happens but I could see it happening

@DBCJason As someone who was never high on Egor as a lead guard, I find myself higher on him now than ever. This development arc could yield an actual NBA player with some added strength

I’m fine already taking an L on my aggressive Egor Demin post-draft rank. The Nets are (correctly) developing him as a wing and completely relying on an iffy shooting profile is not for me. The playmaking stuff means nothing if he can’t dribble or do anything inside the arc.

Cedric Coward is EASILY one of the biggest winners of the combine He’s shot well in drills, has a freaky 7’2” wing span at 6’5” and tested great athletically too with a 38.5” max vert He’s a career 38.6% 3PT shooter in college and there’s a big chance he stays in the draft now

Others have pointed it out and I agree wholeheartedly: the OKC coaching staff and player development team deserve their flowers too Kudos to the scouting department for finding the talent, but the way OKC has created a system that maximizes talent needs some acknowledgement, too Ajay Mitchell is one of many players OKC has turned into a gem
Point Made Basketball@pointmadebball

The OKC scouting department and front office deserve their flowers because Ajay Mitchell is a GEM Constantly finding gems like him in the late 1st and early 2nd is the key to extending their title window and dynasty because it helps with cap navigation
