Your response screams AI slop, but I’ll give you the benefit of the doubt and assume you didn’t lazily outsource your thinking. Besides looking like high grade AI slop, your response is essentially non-responsive to what Naval said. So you either didn’t read, can’t read (hence AI), or like other Naval bootlickers, are being deliberately obtuse. Naval doesn’t owe his time to anyone. He’s very rich, and he can choose to be as stingy with his time as he chooses, that’s his privilege. His time is his gift to give. And yet in the clip above, he gloats about not making any modicum of personal sacrifice to accommodate his wife’s wants or desires, and implies that his time is so much more important than everyone else’s (including his wife and friends) that they must inconvenience themselves to convenience him. There is nuance to what Naval is trying to say, but he is so smug and arrogant and delusion-ally-self-important that that nuance gets lost. Ironic that such a smart dude couldn’t figure that out.

The selfish ones are those who treat someone else’s time, attention, and presence as a resource they’re entitled to by default Naval isn’t refusing his wife or friends. He’s refusing the endless social draft that most people quietly accept. Those that understand him will clearly understand the difference. Yet many can’t understand the profound idea that someone might actually live on their own terms instead of performing to society norms on ‘availability’ Protecting your time isn’t selfish. Demanding it from others is.

why Naval deleted his calendar, ghosts everyone, and refuses to be anywhere at a specific time Naval: "I read a blog post by Marc Andreessen where he said don't keep a schedule. And I took that to heart. So I deleted my calendar and I don't keep a schedule. I try to remember it all in my head. If I can't remember it, I'm not going to add it." "I have a nasty email autoresponder that says, I don't check email and don't text me either. If you need to find me, you'll find me." "My wife knows not to ever book or schedule me for anything. I'm not expected to go to couples dinners. I'm not expected to go to birthdays. I'm not expected to go to weddings. If somebody tries to rope her into having me show up, she says he makes his own decisions. You got to ask him directly." Chris: "Are you not killing serendipity in a way?" Naval: "No. I'm freeing up all my time. So my entire life is serendipity. I get to interact with whoever I want, whenever I want, wherever."

@puppyeh1 i use google search all the time, and free Gemini. I am a heavy user of Claude and Perplexity (and less frequently Grok). i type questions directly in chrome search bar, but lots of low stakes searches also go into google (and lots of local searches, which Google monetizes well)

Anecdotal survey required- when was the last time you used Google search for…anything? Just speaking personally. I’m 100% AI, on literally everything that would have gone to Google search, say six months ago. Surely many others similar
Jamie Powell@ajb_powell

what $GOOG is doing to its search product is clearly a disaster? higher cost to serve vs trad search, reduced ad visibility for existing clients and a terrible user experience. where am i wrong?

Earlier today I said the Hasbro print only matters if future estimates move. $HAS So I pulled the answer. Attached is what the revision tape and the expert channel actually say, from a deep research report I ran in AlphaSense across expert calls, transcripts, and filings. What the debate looks like AFTER the beat: The revisions: FY26 consensus has settled at ~$4.99B – the TOP of the raised guide. The street didn't just bank the Q2 beat. They're now underwriting the back half. That's the estimate move I said to watch. It happened. The bear case didn't die, it moved. Nobody's arguing about Magic demand anymore. The expert calls anchor on structure: $3.62B total debt, 3.02x Debt/EBITDA, ~$42MM of interest every quarter, a fixed claim against reinvestment Secular decline in traditional toys: shrinking birth rates, kids aging out of physical play faster Walmart/Target/Amazon running lean and pushing markdown risk back on manufacturers The bull case got receipts: Magic's first $500MM+ quarter ever Monopoly Go royalties: $168MM in FY25, $86MM already in 1H26; capital-light, pure margin Harry Potter global toy license starting 2027 My read: the short thesis I was pitched was a Magic-demand call, and the market just voted against it. What's left of the bear case is a balance-sheet-and-toys story, a different short, at a different price. This is the discipline: after the print, you don't defend the old thesis. You re-run the mosaic and see which debate you're actually in now. The full expert mosaic is how I pressure-test every name post-earnings @AlphaSenseInc's expert library + AI gets me through it in minutes instead of weeks. Reply beloew for full report! well, at least you agree on the wife part being somewhat absurd...yes, it is a matter of subjective degree/perspective. but if you watch/listen to that clip and see the glee on his face as he brags about his time being more important than everyone else's, and still want to defend him? different strokes for different folks i guess

@ProsusForAll @liebert_2026 Why does his life need to change to focus on other people's requirements? I mean, I agree in terms of his wife, that's a partnership he agreed to, but outside of that I kinda get it?

@Hawkshaw1776 @liebert_2026 self centeredness is not exclusive to the rich/elite. there are very rich people who are generous with their time/energy & very poor people who are stingy. poor/rich is adjacent to the crux of what makes naval's perspective so grotesteque (in my super duper humble opinion)

Because he cares about money, status, power/influence above all else. He and Trump are one of the same in that regard, though Thiel is obviously in a different stratosphere when it comes to raw brain power, no denying that. If only he applied a fraction of that brain power altruistically…

I completely forgot about this. 10 years ago Peter Thiel spoke at the republican national convention and endorsed Trump. I lived in Silicon Valley at the time. This was RADICAL. He was essentially alone + socially eviscerated. Didn’t care. Wild memory.

Oh man, thank you kindly, but prepare to be very disappointed and/or bored to death by market/investing mumbo jumbo. Maybe I can provide some amusement when I periodically self combust ranting and raving about the latest sociopathic grifter, charlatan, guru who have a special ability to torment my brain.

I appreciate your nuanced response/ perspective (pithy one at that). That’s a totally reasonable perspective, and not out of sync (I don’t think) with my interpretation and ultimately criticism of what Naval was articulating above. I totally understand and even agree with the idea that we should protect our time at all cost, great, on the same page there. What naval articulates in that clip (and perhaps there is more context that is missing) is essentially that his time is so much more valuable than anyone else’s, including - and explicitly - his wife’s, that he can’t be bothered to accommodate anyone whatsoever. Everything is on his time, and everyone else will have to inconvenience themselves to accommodate him. That’s not noble or enlightened, as he seems so eager to display with his podcasting preening - that’s self centeredness, pure and simple. Everyone should put their oxygen max on first, again, fine, no argument there. But that’s not what is being described above. It’s a nauseatingly delusional sense of self importance and narcissism, in my super duper humble opinion, of course

@danpfeiffer @mehdirhasan If Trump is so corrupt shouldn’t his net worth be going up, not down? He lost nearly $1B in term 1, and he’s down $100M in term 2.

1. Trump does so much crazy, corrupt shit that things can get lost. Last week, Trump embarked on what might be his most brazenly corrupt scheme yet, and it got far too little attention. Here's what you need to know:

@ProsusForAll @DanielitoG25 @liebert_2026 You're extrapolating hard. Since when is having many friends inherently good, especially since best friendships are rare and require a lot of time and effort? It's called valuing your time at a premium relative to the value you provide to the world, which is why he's rich.

I am still flabbergasted that 1) anyone can have such an absurdly inflated sense of self importance that warrants negging / ghosting wife, family and friends 2) that they would gloat about it 3) that people will actually defend this mindset, as if exorbitant self centeredness was some prerequisite for “success”. Sad.
Curious George Cap@ProsusForAll

@liebert_2026 what an incredibly self-centered way to live. and trying to masquerade as something noble or enlightened makes it even more nauseating. one day, this type of behavior will be ridiculed, not celebrated, and i cannot wait.

@ToddShaffer @liebert_2026 Cool bro. I am sure you’re a bag of laughs. You’re welcome to revere Naval and this mindset. I’m welcome to not, and to think he, you, and anyone else that finds this admirable is not of soul or character that I want anything to do with. Best of luck.

Bro, he is bragging about not letting his wife schedule any time for him, and not having to go to birthday parties (presumably not his kids!) - being stingy with your time is a matter of preference / degree, and everyone has the right to make that decision for themselves. What bothers me is how self important this guy thinks he is that his time is so valuable that his wife, family, friends (doubt he has many of those!) aren’t worth any sacrifice of consideration. Why do ppl think this shit is cool? Bc he has lots of money? To each their own, but in my opinion, this is comically self centered and embarrassing. But he’s uber “rich” so what do I know…
