@swd2 Good point! The medical industrial complex needs more obesity and diabetes to treat. Step 1 spend tax dollars for the problem Step 2 spend tax dollars for the treatment Step 3 don't fix the problem .... Profit!

As of today, Florida SNAP recipients can’t buy soda or candy because God forbid we allow a single mom and her kids a few moments of happiness at the end of the day. 😡

@JacksonWheat1 "Personal beliefs should have no impact on what a child learns." I never know if statements like this are trolling or not.

Homeschooling should be banned. There are no good reasons for it. Even if a child has a deathly illness towards going outside, the state should still provide a teacher. Personal beliefs should have no impact on what a child learns.

@Xxtayce They should have burned more Arby's down in the 60s and George Floyd would be alive today.

Watching The Dinosaurs (2026) was so jarringly sad. Dinosaurs survived 165 million years on Earth, including 2 milion years of nonstop rain, only to be wiped out by a random asteroid. Meanwhile, modern humans have existed for only 300,000 years. Agriculture? 12,000. Civilization? 5,000. Industrial revolution? 250. Nuclear weapons and Al? Less than 100. In a tiny sliver of Earth's timeline we have already caused wars, mass extinction, and permanent damage to the planet. We are recklessly arrogant.

Just a thought: How about we stop shaming the poor for buying things that may not be essential, and start shaming the rich for making a profit off things that are essential?

@HistoryBoomer I like it when people can read my mind and let me know what I think. E.g. I don't think that Republics are good, I just like pumpkin pie!

People defend the Electoral College for the same reason they defend pumpkin pie on Thanksgiving: tradition. But tradition is no reason to keep two things that are bad for America.
James Surowiecki@JamesSurowiecki

There's no good civic argument for the electoral college. It was arguably necessary to ensure the ratification of the Constitution, but it's an anti-democratic device that gives some American citizens far more voting power than others, based purely on where they live.

@dhe3g Thousands are killed every year by the acorn on the roof problem. I'm not saying that we should forgive the cops, they should be in jail BUT maybe the best solution is just to: BAN ACORN PRODUCING TREES!

@MattisRedacted en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Corwin_Am… The North wanted to amend the constitution to allow slavery. The CSA wanted state sovereignty. The North went to war to preserve the union. Ergo, the Civil War was fought preserve the union. This isn’t hard if you’re not stupid.
