A potentially fatal accident on the Mumbai Coastal Road along Worli was averted earlier this week after maintenance staff discovered that thieves had removed bolts and copper wiring from an electric pole on the Mumbai coastal road at Worli, leaving the 12-metre-high structure at risk of collapsing onto passing vehicles. Officials said the damage was detected during a routine inspection three days ago, allowing the pole to be secured before it could fall. “Had the damage gone unnoticed, the pole could have crashed onto moving traffic, causing grievous said.

Today, I was eating dosa beside an elderly man, probably around 75. When he finished, his plate was spotless. Not a single drop of sambar, not a speck of chutney, not even a tiny piece of onion was left behind. Someone at the table noticed it and asked him about it. He smiled and replied, "If you can't grow it, produce it, or make it yourself, you don't have the right to waste it." Such a simple thought, yet it carried a lifetime of wisdom.

*A naughty question and a brilliant answer!* Why can't Lord Shiva be spotted by satellite, if Hindus claim him to be on Mount Kailash in the Himalayas? Recently on Quora this query arose. The reply was supposedly from a practicing Hindu from US, holding a PhD. ------ Human eyes and recording equipment can't record what dogs and cats see at night. Then came infrared cameras. We realised shortcomings of our eyes. Microscopes started seeing cells. Scientists went on to build bigger and bigger microscopes, electron microscopes - just realised that the smallest part of independent existence, has many parts. Then came CAT scans, PET scans, MRIs; we started seeing what nobody knew existed. When scientists thought we knew everything, came dark matter. Never seen or heard of earlier but, now, believed to occupy about 75% of of space. Again we knew we don't know anything. AS A TRAINED SCIENTIST I CAN SHARE THE REAL SECRET OF WHY LORD SHIVA CAN'T BE SPOTTED, ON MOUNT KAILASH, BY SATELLITES. For seeing Shiva on that mountain, we need different eyes. Once we have those, He can be seen not just on Kailash by scientists but everywhere and anywhere because that mountain is not the only place, He is. He is everywhere. This separate set of eyes required are those of mind, those of heart, those of dedication, those of your surrender. Once that comes, rest all will automatically fall into place.

Did you know your ₹100 in the bank isn’t sitting in a vault? It’s lent, spent, and re-deposited within hours. One printed ₹100 turns into ₹500 across the economy. Banks decide how much. India runs this slower than the rest of the world. 50% credit-to-GDP against a global 148%. On purpose. The instinct was built in 1969 and never left. It’s the shield that kept India out of 2008. It’s also the ceiling. You can’t fully have one without the other..

CAs are the most under confident professionals in India. How do you justify charging a ₹2500 annual flat fee while giving out year round, on demand business and tax advice over Call and WhatsApp any time of the day? A doctor takes ₹1000 per visit. A lawyer won't even give an opinion without a fee. Yet CAs give away premium consulting for free just to keep a client. Why can't CAs charge consultation fees? Who exactly is stopping you?

Dear Friends, Rajagopal here. I received my renewed passport a few hours ago. Its renewal had been blocked after the Kolkata Police submitted an adverse report citing the deletion of my name from the voters' list under the Special Intensive Revision (SIR). I thank everyone in this group for your words of support and for your efforts to amplify the issue. However, I must point out that, viewed against the larger backdrop, the issue has not progressed much since I discussed it publicly last week. As far as I know, neither the Central Government nor the Government of West Bengal has yet issued any clarification on whether data collected under the SIR for a specific purpose can be used for other services. Some media outlets called me to ask whether I felt "victorious". What an insensitive question to ask! Since they did ask, I told them that I do not feel victorious. I continue to feel as despondent as I did a week ago. Unless and until there is policy clarity on this issue, it is difficult to claim any real relief. Instead of asking me whether I feel "victorious", the media should be asking the Central Government and the Government of West Bengal why they have not clarified this important issue. That, surely, is the question that deserves public attention. I hope every friend in this group will continue to discuss the larger issue—not my individual plight—on every available platform until such clarity emerges. Thank you once again. Rajagopal Kolkata

A viral Instagram video exposed an alleged parking scam at a free BMC parking lot in Kala Ghoda, prompting Mumbai Police to launch a sting operation and verify the claims. Police arrested a 36-year-old man for allegedly collecting money from motorists at the free parking lot. An FIR was registered, and investigators are probing a possible larger extortion racket. ✍️: Aishwarya Iyer

🚗 Wrong side of the road. Blocking traffic. Not for a moment → for 15 minutes. He didn't move.He stared. He waited → like he wanted a confrontation. Auto drivers, truck drivers, fellow commuters → all asked him to clear the way. His ego said no. He only backed off when he realized the dashcam was rolling and the crowd wasn't backing down. This isn't his first offense. Multiple unpaid fines. Signal jumps. Illegal parking. A repeat offender → still on the road. What exactly was the mistake here? Driving correctly? If this had happened at night,On an empty stretch → this story could have ended very differently. @blrcitytraffic → how long do chronic offenders get to keep driving like this?

I just watched Tamilisai's interview, and it brought to mind a historical parallel. In 1945, the British people held Winston Churchill in immense respect for leading the nation through its darkest hour. Yet, once victory was secured, they elected Clement Attlee to lead Britain into its next phase. It was not a repudiation of Churchill's contributions, but an acknowledgment that the leadership needed to build the future might be different from the leadership that guided the struggle. A similar dynamic can be seen in the BJP's journey in Tamil Nadu. Leaders like Tamilisai and many others invested years of hard work in building the party when it had limited political space and little prospect of immediate electoral success. Their role in laying the foundation is undeniable. At the same time, a large section of the cadre came to see Annamalai as the leader capable of taking the party into its next phase of growth. Just as Attlee came to represent a new chapter for post-war Britain, Annamalai came to symbolize a new chapter for the BJP in Tamil Nadu. The emergence of new leadership does not diminish the contributions of those who came before. History often shows that the people who build an institution and the people who expand it are not always the same. The issue was never about choosing one generation over another. The challenge was managing the transition in a way it harnessed the momentum behind the new. That is where the central BJP has missed an opportunity and failed to handle Annamalai's rise effectively. National leaders often have the luxury of absorbing the consequences of strategic missteps from a distance, but the political costs are ultimately borne by the party's state unit, its cadre, and its supporters on the ground. The repercussions, however, would be enormous. Leaders with Annamalai's combination of charisma, work ethic, communication ability, and grassroots connect are rare. BJP will look back on it as one of its biggest missed opportunities in Tamil Nadu.

I was ready to pay the full amount for a car. The dealer still didn't want to sell it to me. Yesterday, I went to a car showroom with my uncle to buy a new car. We had already decided to buy the base model. No loan, no EMI, no negotiation. We were ready to make the full payment immediately. But instead of processing the booking, the salesman kept pushing us toward the top variant. We told him multiple times that we didn't need the extra features and didn't want to spend an extra ₹3-4 lakh. Then came the shock. He told us that if we wanted the base model, we would have to buy accessories worth ₹70,000 from their showroom. Otherwise, they wouldn't be able to deliver the car. I was genuinely confused. If the manufacturer makes the base model, why don't dealerships want to sell it? Why should customers be forced to buy accessories they don't need? And why is someone willing to pay the full amount treated like they're making the wrong decision? The funniest part was when the salesman told us, "You don't have car-buying knowledge." Apparently, wanting the variant you actually need is now considered a lack of knowledge. This isn't about one brand. I've heard similar stories from people buying different cars. So I want to ask: Have you ever been pressured to buy a higher variant or unwanted accessories while buying a car?

I had just gone to buy some lychees The fruit seller said, "Madam, these are Muzaffarpur’s famous Shahi Lychees ₹180 per kg." I replied, "Really ? I bought them for ₹150 per kg just two days ago." During our conversation, I casually asked, "Lychee season lasts only about 30 days, so how much can a seller actually earn during this period ?" At first, he laughed and avoided the question. But after a lot of persuasion, he revealed that these lychees are available in the wholesale market for around ₹100-₹120 per kg. That’s when I started doing the math If the average profit margin is about ₹60 per kg, and a seller manages to sell just 200 kg a day. Daily profit ₹12,000 Profit in a 30 day season ₹360,000 means ₹3.6 lakh And if sales reach 300-400 kg per day, the profit could easily climb to ₹540,000-₹720,000 That’s when I realized something interesting. The lychee season may last only 30 days, but for some fruit sellers, a significant portion of their annual income might come from these few weeks alone. What do you think does the fruit business earn much more than most people imagine ? Tell me in the comments
