The Supreme court observed that caste abuse inside a private house may not attract the SC/ST Act unless it happens within “public view.” So if a Dalit is humiliated behind closed doors, does their dignity not matter? This interpretation weakens protections for SC ST.

@FluteTweets @narayanantbjp @TVKPartyHQ Dr. Ambedkar was highly critical of Sanatana Dharma, viewing it as the theological justification for the rigid, discriminatory caste system, and untouchability. He did not believe it was a religion of equality, but rather a system designed to maintain Brahminical dominance.

The statement made by T V K’s @TVKPartyHQ “s legislative assembly member Mustafa — “We have entered the political field only to eradicate Sanatanam” — is highly condemnable. A Muslim, and especially a people’s representative, speaking derogatorily about the Hindu religion and declaring that it will be eradicated is an act that severely damages religious harmony. Will Mustafa, who criticises Sanatan Dharma as a way of life, dare to criticise the Islamic faith? Will he come forward with criticism of Christianity? Thinking that one can say anything and everything just because one has a mouth and is in power is a clear reflection of arrogance. Chief Minister Joseph Vijay @TVKVijayHQ has so far not condemned either Udhayanidhi Stalin’s speech on Sanatanam in the Assembly or the remarks made by DMK MLA Mustafa. For a Chief Minister who claims to be the leader for all people, failing to condemn those who criticise the way of life of the majority community does not befit the high office he holds. Sanatan Dharma, which is eternal and everlasting, has never been destroyed or eradicated by anyone born in the past, nor is anyone born now capable of doing so, and no one who will be born in the future will ever be able to destroy it either. Narayanan Thirupathy, Chief Spokesperson, Bharatiya Janata Party.

STORY | Hinduism way of life, not mandatory to go to temple to prove belief: SC Observing that Hinduism is a way of life, the Supreme Court on Wednesday said it is not necessary for a Hindu to mandatorily go to a temple or perform a ritual in order to remain a Hindu, and even lighting a lamp inside the house is enough to prove one's belief. The observation of a nine-judge constitution bench headed by Chief Justice Surya Kant came while hearing petitions related to discrimination against women at religious places, including the Sabarimala temple in Kerala, and on the ambit of religious freedom practised by multiple faiths, including Dawoodi Bohras. Justices B V Nagarathna, M M Sundresh, Ahsanuddin Amanullah, Aravind Kumar, Augustine George Masih, Prasanna B Varale, R Mahadevan and Joymalya Bagchi are also part of the nine-judge bench.
