@rivian R2 demo drive was amazing. Shout out to “E” for accommodating me showing up 90 minutes early. Big pluses: Overall fit and finish, software presented worked well, driving dynamics (at an admittedly extremely hemmed in pace). A lighter and friendly Rivian for the person looking for a one car solution. Big misses: No demo of autonomy available for whatever reason (highway or otherwise), 30 minutes too short to tuck into any vehicle in a meaningful way. Overall assessment: There will be lines out the door for these if you have the ability to find a service center nearby. I already see R1S all over the place in my neighborhood in central Ohio. But for a mainstream vehicle at a lower price point I think that buyer is looking for more convenience and won’t travel 3 hours for a 30 minute test drive. And maybe not for delivery day either.

The Rivian R2 is finally hitting the streets! 🛞 Took it out for a demo drive in Boston and those new force-touch buttons for the frunk and rear glass are a massive upgrade from the early prototypes.

Actual photo of me trying to convince RJ to bring back Compass Yellow. But in all seriousness, R2 blew my mind after spending substantial time with it last week. On-road, off-road, software, space, even the sound system was good AFTER some major tweaks… ⬇️
