In a few years, MAGA will realize that Democrats were right about everything. They will keep pushing him and his wannabe successors, but doing it less and less overtime.
Eventually, they will deny ever propping Trump up. They will say “yeah I voted for him but I wasn’t happy about it!”
They will quietly remove the flags, the bumper stickers, and the hats will be brought to Goodwill.

It is not “show an ID at the polls” like grabbing a beer at a ballgame.
The SAVE Act demands documentary proof of citizenship to even get on the rolls in the first place. Birth certificate, passport, or nothing. That is a very different bar, and millions of eligible Americans do not clear it without an expensive, time sucking paperwork run.
Older voters, rural folks, women who changed their names after marriage, people whose records burned or flooded, they are the ones who hit that wall.
Supporting simple photo ID is one thing, most Americans do. Pretending this bill is the same thing is either confusion or sleight of hand.
Democracy should not require a scavenger hunt for documents no one keeps in their wallet.

I have lived and voted in seven states, and have always had to show a photo ID. I don’t understand why this isn’t required everywhere. This should be the only requirement to vote - not birth certificates, passports, marriage licenses , etc.

There seems to be some confusion about the SAVE America Act. If it becomes law, you will NOT be able to vote with your drivers license alone.
You’d need:
1. A passport, which more than half of Americans don’t have and costs at least $130
OR
2. A birth certificate PLUS your photo ID with matching names, which nearly 70 million married women lack
OR
3. Military services papers (not a military ID alone) with sensitive info.
I’m voting NO.

The SAVE Act’s goal is disenfranchising over 21 million Americans and making it harder for eligible people to vote, particularly low-income Americans and people of color. That’s the truth.
The SAVE Act is dead on arrival in the senate. Senate Democrats will not sign on to stripping the right to vote from tens of millions of American citizens.
