On this Texas Independence Day, we commemorate the spirit and resilience of Texans. The “Republic of Texas Legation Memorial Act” which I successfully authored in 2020, honors the historic delegation of Texans who came to Washington as diplomats to negotiate our joining the Union. It will serve as a celebration of the Texan spirit here in our nation’s capital.

The Flock CEO is calling people that don’t want 24x7 government surveillance terrorists. I have an idea - let’s put a public live feed camera outside his house. Let’s make sure we have drones and camera systems following him around. Or better - why doesn’t he make his cell phone data available to the public for 24x7 monitoring of his location and who is with him in a car? I’m guessing this scrawny 12 year old nerd lecturing us on not wanting to be surveilled won’t share his data publicly so why should he be able to force us to?

Yes. I read it as a child. Because it’s a children’s book. We keep lowering standards for children’s media and then wonder why kids can’t read or grasp complex concepts. Running into words you don’t know is part of the learning experience. Not an insurmountable obstacle.

@bazashc Have you ever read it??? It’s 100% not a children’s book and whoever says that is lying to you. Not only is the vernacular dated and elaborate but the sentence structure and lengthy writing is often hard to get your head around as an adult. Love that book! but it’s not for kids

@EllipticalMan Yes. I didn’t pay attention to the page count. I was 8-9. I was taken with the fantasy and dragon. The moon letters FASCINATED me for years. Lots of kids were reading The Hobbit back then.
