@Emmie_exx How is creating multiple products "creating a problem"? Should YouTube not earn money to pay for the cost of servers, hardware, software, employee salaries, insurance...? I'm afraid you've got this backwards.

consumers are so fucking stupid you can literally create a problem, and have them praise you for selling the solution

it's honestly embarrassing that Chrome accidentally became the best PDF viewer while Adobe spent decades making Acrobat slower and more bloated

@chicagotribune Public schools should not be involving children in protests. Our taxes should not be funding political activism by using our children as puppets.

From the Editorial Board: CTU is planning a May 1 protest and has pushed for excused absences so students can participate. It’s bad enough that the union is asking its members to abandon their jobs; what’s worse is that they want students to participate. chicagotribune.com/2026/04/08/edi…

I'm so happy that people are finally learning about the Apollo missions after Apollo 11 The program did so much in such little time but only gets attention for the first landing

@PattersonSonny @bestofStarTrek She was not superb. She was ok. Raffe stole the show. And by "stole" I mean, she ruined almost every scene she was in. Horrible character. Awful writing. Actor was amazing for keeping her consistently awful for 3 seasons.

@bestofStarTrek Honestly? Season 1 was bad. Season 2 was completely unwatchable. Season 3 was very good and would have been better if the very poorly written "Raffe" wasn't in it.

There’s no glass behind the Hawks bench at the UC. It’s a strange view. Makes you feel like you’re on the ice.

Someone asked "Are there any Star Trek actors you have met?" A bunch! We have met very few from the Kurtzman shows. But we've met all TOS leads, all TNG, most Voyager, most DS9, a few Enterprise. Honestly, they were all lovely, with the exception of one from DS9.

@bestofStarTrek It was kind of stupid and one of the first indicators to me at that time that JK Abrams just wants to recycle stuff, because all he knows how to do is write love letters to the Greats of film but not be a Great himself.

NASA really blew a golden opportunity with this flight. They should have had wall-to-wall experts and personalities talking about this mission, future missions, science, physics, stories, etc. NASA has so many talented people, why not feature them. I'm really surprised about it too. They have the human resources, why all the dead air and a single, unchanging video feed? Heck, they could have turned the broken toilet story into pure science class gold. This is/was the single best way to capture/maintain/increase support from the American public and capture the imagination of the next generation. Sorry, I don't mean to be that guy, I'm very excited about the return to the Moon... my kids turned it off.

"Loving science" and using science to describe reality are two different things. "Welp. God must've done it." is by definition, not testable by the scientific method, which does not allow room for Theocracy in the halls (and labs) of science — and never will.
Paul Anleitner@PaulAnleitner

The notion that loving science makes you an atheist or agnostic has always been absurd. The difference between these two men isn't a love for science or the stars. It is the meaning they interpret as they look at the stars. What something "means" goes deeper than science.

@lacherbauer Long overdue how? An EL track over Western or Ashland would devastate the local aesthetic, ruin the street structure, and cost god knows how much to implement. Money Chicago doesn't have. Just take the bus to the red line and then bus back! Use the available infrastructure.

Sometimes when we borrow words from other languages, English can become delightfully redundant. ‘Scampi’ means “shrimp” so ‘shrimp scampi’ is basically “shrimp shrimp.” Sahara Desert = Desert Desert chai tea = tea tea naan bread = bread bread ahi tuna = tuna tuna
