1/2 Covid Twitter is like a macrocosm of my PhD. So much disagreement amongst scientists (who all have their own agendas) regarding best path to follow, with 'evidence' to back it up, which ultimately makes it seem like no one knows what they’re talking about or who to trust…

One of the many things I still don't understand is how could ANYONE, EVER have 'puberty blockers' explained to them and think, yes, that sounds like a good idea? Even with the most BASIC awareness of teenagers or biology. Just...HOW?

Pharma industry has a long history of repurposing drugs for ‘medical conditions’ (off-label marketing). Eg dexfenuramine (heart disease drug re-marketed for obesity leading to potentially 100s of deaths). Now we see the same with young teens #CassReport #pubertyblocker #lupron
Genevieve Gluck@WomenReadWomen

When trans activists claim that the drugs euphemistically called "puberty blockers" are "safe and reversible," they are lying to the public. Even experts who criticize the administration of these drugs to children often say, "there is limited research" regarding long-term effects. Yes, research on children is limited, and no long-term follow-up research is currently being required in the US. Yet there are plenty of horrifying reports from adults. Women have been given "puberty blocker" Lupron for a variety of issues - including IVF, surrogacy, and early puberty. (Lupron, like all "puberty blocking" drugs, is classified as a GnRH agonist.) The side effects have been horrendous - debilitating pain, early menopause, and brittle bones. Some women have reported their teeth falling out and their jaw bones detaching. Lupron was developed for the treatment of prostate cancer in men. When it failed to improve the health of dying men, it was pushed onto women, who have been suffering horrendously for decades while being ignored by mainstream media. A drug developed for terminally ill men, which is also used to castrate convicted male pedophiles, is being given to women and to healthy children. This is a failed, category X cancer drug being repurposed for profit. Lupron is only given to men when they are dying or as a punishment, but the drug is called "life-saving" for children. By 2019, the US FDA had received over 25,000 adverse event reports for Lupron products including more than 1500 deaths. This clip is from 2009 and features the investigative reporting of @dspinv13 who has repeatedly tried to bring awareness of this medical scandal. Society at large did not care that this was happening to women, and a result of this medical scandal being neglected is that both women and children are being irreparably harmed. genevievegluck.substack.com/p/puberty-bloc…

Gaza tonight. When the skies are lit with terror. Never forget the “civilized nations” that claim to be “peacemakers” governed by “international law” that manufactured this genocide. Shame.

If you really wanted peace then look at Ireland. You have to give up the gun and retribution. Make Palestinian lives liveable, survivable, pleasurable. Give them land, support, the means to exist well. Dismantle settler-ships, stop the sea/air/land controls, build them up.

I wrote about the contrast between the lifetime impact of a disastrous birth and the way in which women in labour - who are the ones who will live with this - are mocked and belittled for wanting any degree of control unherd.com/2023/07/how-di…

@VictoriaCoren Aww. Sending a big virtual hug. Those of us who lost our dads too soon, eventually get to the stage where we smile at our memories instead of shedding a tear

Today would’ve been my father’s 85th birthday. It’s a strange feeling. His would’ve-been-75th was sad, but this one isn’t so much because I think he would NEVER have made 85. RIP ❤️

@MaynardAlison @VictoriaCoren I hope so! 😓 mine died last year a couple of months before his 75th birthday. I still feel robbed of time with him and am unable to think of him without great sadness.

Nearly every interview I’ve done w/moms this week has kids popping in to say hi, moms still in gym clothes and sweaty, calls from cars or closets (me too!), or a pause to make a snack. Every man I’ve interviewed was in a quiet office space and was not interrupted once.

@volewriter Girls all in dresses though! Certainly in my primary school in London, it wasn’t until ~mid-80s, when a girl protested, that they finally started letting girls wear trousers. I remember a teacher still commenting on me wearing them in prob 1989…I told her off 🤣

@frankie2001mia True. It’s all hideously outdated and embarrassing. But I’ll personally save my feelings of concern for those children whose parents rely on food banks, etc, than this particular privileged child 😉

@frankie2001mia Tbh I’m more concerned about the fact that my 7yo is essentially being taught that this other similarly-aged kid is somehow superior to him, and that he should ‘bend the knee’ to his family.

Can we all just acknowledge what this this 9 year old is having to acknowledge today. This will happen to him, but only on the event of his fathers death. His whole life is in preparation for his fathers death. That’s too much for a child to have to comprehend.
