Rakyan Lab
@Rakyan_lab
Lab at the Blizard Institute, QMUL, working on gene-environment interactions and their impact on health and disease in humans and other model organisms.

We have a 2y postdoc position open in my group. The profile is quite broad, from bioinformatics to molecular biology. If you are interested in giant virus endogenization, EvoDevo, epigenetics and evolution, do apply and gent in touch. Please RT. Details: qmul.ac.uk/jobs/vacancies…

New paper alert! The RNA ribosomal components are so essential that they appear as tons of back to back copies in the genome, which makes them really hard to analyse, so have been mostly ignored. But does it matter how many copies one has? A thread (1/9) cell.com/cell-genomics/…

New research in @CellGenomics led by @Rakyan_lab, @evans1_d and collaborator @evans1_d suggests that people with more copies of ribosomal DNA have higher risks of developing disease. Research funded by @Barts_Charity, @RosetreesT and @BBSRC. Find out more: qmul.ac.uk/media/news/202…

A new study, led by Vardhman Rakyan and Francisco Rodriguez-Algarra from @blizard_inst in collaboration with David Evans from @UQ_News, suggests genetic disposition to disease can be found in previously understudied areas of the #genome.
