The Office of Congressman Jim Baird is saddened to announce the passing of his beloved wife, Danise, following complications from injuries sustained in a car accident earlier this year. Congressman Baird and Danise were married for 59 years, building a life centered on faith, family, and service. A devoted wife and loving mother of three, she was the foundation of their family and will be deeply missed. We ask that you keep the Congressman and his family in your prayers during this difficult time.

Four years ago today, 13 service members, including Cpl. Humberto A. Sanchez from Logansport, IN, lost their lives in the Abbey Gate terrorist attack during the Biden Administration's catastrophic withdrawal from Afghanistan. I had the honor of meeting with Cpl. Sanchez's family last year during the Congressional Gold Medal ceremony, which posthumously honored these 13 heroes. We must never forget their courage and their sacrifice.

Happy Moon Landing Day! On this day in 1969, Apollo 11 astronauts Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin became the first humans to set foot on the Moon. This photo shows both astronauts on the Moon, with Armstrong reflected in the visor of Aldrin's helmet.

Every year, I share this video of French caretakers who take sand from Omaha Beach in Normandy, and scrub them into the letters to give them the gold coloring. They do this for all 9,386 US soldiers who died. France also gave us this land as American soil. #MemorialDayWeekend
