@CynicalPublius We are angry at being abused beyond what was needed or necessary. That is the core of the issue.

So today I had a retired US Navy three-star admiral accuse me of being a bot and having never served in the US military. I posted a rebuttal, which basically caused this Democrat admiral to get swarmed by a social media army of veterans (and patriotic non-veterans too). I truly appreciate the outpouring of support, but I am also quite interested in what this says about the mindset of America’s veteran community in 2026, writ large. Most of us? We served in the GWOT and are still angry about it. We are angry that we were sent to do impossible missions of building liberal institutions in 8th Century tribal societies. We’re angry about ridiculously restrictive ROE that got our friends killed. We are angry that for much of the wars we were inadequately resourced, driving soft-skinned HMMWVs down IED Alley. We are angry that we spent all those years to have, in the end, accomplished very little. We are angry at how the VA treated us when we got out. Most of all, we are angry about watching our friends get killed or maimed (or kill themselves when they got home), seemingly all for naught. And guess what? We are REALLY angry at the senior generals and admirals who led us down this path and never had the cajones to tell the civilian elected leadership what the real deal was. (We’re not angry at Pete Hegseth’s team—we’re angry at the generals and admirals who caused the problems he and his team are trying to fix.) That admiral who came at me today? He was one of those GWOT senior leaders. What you saw today was much less an outpouring of support for me and much more an outpouring of righteous anger at a righteous target. Just wanted to share my thoughts on this, it’s an interesting phenomenon.

@Asmongold @geoffkeighley The cinematic is not gonna work, Zack. Playing characters that look like a box of crayons threw up on them and the scenery, then coated themselves in a plastic sheen, makes this a hard pass for me. D2 has far, FAR superior graphics quality.

Id also like to add one more thing, There is a huge difference between using AI to replace and lay off people already performing a job, vs using AI as a tool to assist with something we are already doing internally for something I was never planning to outsource in the first place... You can bet though that when we hire another cam-op, Thumbnail creation is on the "Desired Skills" list... we've had that plan for a while now... obviously as the industry recoils, hiring more right now is a risky move... as the absolutely worst thing I could do is hire someone only to have to lay them off later.... not exactly on my list of "to dos"

Seems as though I am being severely misquoted here and Right to Reply is a real this, so here we go... I said in my AI video that AI is a useful tool for many, but not a replacement for human or human creativity. I am being misquoted and misattributed into saying that I am anti-AI entirely, and thats NOT true or what I said at all. I even discussed my absolute trash abilities in Photoshop specifically with Thumbnails so I have been trying out some things to help spice them up. Every day I get emails from people wanting me to hire them to make Thumbnails and the truth is, no I wouldnt spend money on that. But what is even funnier is that people are claming that my thumbnails are completely AI generated which is also untrue, for instance, here are the source images used for the cut-out versions of me below.... So where as I am not willing to hire a dedicated Thumbnail artist (believe it or not, neither Phil, Nic or Myself are any good at Thumbnail creation) I did however hire a Researcher this month to assist with our new Weekly News videos, as well as other interesting topics that deserve deeper investigation... I suppose I COULD have used AI for that, but thats an example of where I feel AI is dangerous, just using a search query, copying the results and calling it a day is exactly what a LOT of people are doing, and thats not what I believe it. Also attributing to me having some assistance with creating Thumbnails is not the same as "Vibe Coding" which we KNOW is a real thing causing REAL problems... I think all you have to do is look at the Profile of this guy to understand where his true biases are and you know what, good on him... He wears his bias like a badge of honor and hes entitles to it. Doesn't make him right, but hey, at least he doesnt hide it. If you think thumbnail creation is a big problem, Id love to hear why.... the video is shot and edited by real people I have hired... unfortunately, we arent LTT with huge budgets to hire people for every task at hand, and Thumbnails are extremely low on the "to hire" list.

Now Reform are incandescently angry that we are giving the British people that choice. Deploying increasingly desperate smears against our movement. If people don’t agree, they can vote for someone else who won’t deport. There are plenty of options - Reform, Labour, Tories. Take your pick. Go for it. But if you want those evil scumbags out of our country, along with every foreign coward who enabled it? You now have that genuine option. Restore Britain.

@samosaur @TheIOGuy Prior service are also treated worse once in. After 4 years in, a two year break, then enlisting again, I could not get promoted for the life of me. Ended up being four years in grade as an E4 before being allowed to attend the board. /sigh

There has always been an aversion to prior service. I came back in in 2006, and even then, when they needed to swell the ranks of troops, my recruiter told me “I’m only helping you because I was your senior recruiter last time you joined and I know you. We stay away from prior service. Too many problems.” I understood all his reasons, but I still don’t get the aversion when people want to serve.

Inbox right now: "I got out on dec 4 2021 ans since 2022 I have been actively trying to get back in to active army. The problem is you have people trying to get back in but its beyond impossible to get back in or the recruiters just dont want to do any work for prior service since we aren't a number for them. I've been told that many many times that im not a required number for recruiters as to why they aren't actively helping me. I did find some recruiters that are helping as of now but the current rate is the recruiters will help for a week or 2 and then i dont hear anything from them. I have worked with recruiters from alabama, Texas north Carolina, Tennessee and now trying in Florida. Its a genuine issue for many prior service members wanting to go back in but cant. The other thing is the recruiters will have us do their job or do leg work for them. I dont get it."

The biggest bullshit move by DHS in its history. So everyone on a O1 or H1B visa would have to stop working legally in the US, go back to their country and wait for years of backlog? This includes top scientists in our universities, founders of billion dollar companies (at least 3 just in our portfolio would be affected by the way). And if we look at individual countries it becomes even more bs. Indians would have to wait decades. Russians don’t have anywhere to go (there is no US embassy in Russia, hello?). This is the worst imaginable way to disrupt important work for the country and pretend you’re fighting some loophole.

...and why can't we see our own family doctor or dentist? Why do we have to go through VA doctors/dentists? The community dental program is also a joke. Selected dentists are the lowest bidder, lowest quality, and least qualified dentists I've ever seen. But wait, there's more... My PCP is an Arab, and the community dentist's office is owned and operated by Arabs. What makes this truly tragic is that I have rated PTSD from my time in the Middle East. WTF are you doing to me, VA? My family doctor was a UofM doctor. The family dentist? We've been with them for 15 years. I can't see either one and have the cost covered by the VA, as they are not VA approved. Let us go to whatever doctor or dentist we choose, VA! Instead of paying the lowest bidder to provide care, invest that money in auditors and use them to make sure the quality of care being provided is of the highest quality in the U.S. We've earned it!
