Please pray for my friend, @BamaStephen. He is having some serious surgery. Praying for you, brother!
English

@philvischer @dandarling Oh and sorry about saying the word pleasure twice. Speaking into the phone and distracted. Ha ha.
English

@RealPatSawyer @dandarling I was on a panel discussion with him 3-ish years ago (a Justin Brierley thing), and I just remember him coming in with some mildly offensive comments and thinking, "Who is this guy?"
English

This guy makes Job’s friends look like expert grief counselors by comparison. Folks, don’t let internet brain rot distort your Christianity.
Fr Calvin Robinson ©️®️@calvinrobinson
Traditionally, a widow would wear black for the first year and avoid social events. A typical mourning period would last for two years, with a steady transition back into society. Nowadays, “everyone grieves differently.”
English

@philvischer @dandarling I had the pleasure of meeting Calvin a little over two years ago. It was a pleasure to meet him. He has shifted dramatically over the last 24 months. It’s concerning. Webbon is a blind guide. I’m surprised Calvin is allied with him to any extent.
English

@dandarling He’s been hanging out with Joel Webbon to discuss “the black problem.” (Not making that up.). Reasonable takes should not be expected.
English

@Ameen_HGA No, she doesn’t compete. But at one point was quite serious abt the craft & her exercise/training w/ it. She lived overseas at various times & did some concentrated training in both the D.R. and Russia. She learned how to punch properly and I am surprised at her power & speed.
English

We been slapboxing on the streets since the early 20th century lol
WELCOME TO BLACK TWlTTER @blacktwiterthrd

Aw poor Russell. Who among us hasn't done this at least a couple times?
Mukhtar@I_amMukhtar
Piers Morgan asked Russell Brand which passages were relevant to him when he brought a Bible into court.

@PrinceScrapbook @NeilShenvi One of the reasons we wrote the book is for people like you. You should read it.

@NeilShenvi @RealPatSawyer At some point, endorsements often cease to reflect genuine appreciation for one’s scholarship, academic merit or pursuit of objective truth. Instead, they become affirmations of shared political ideology, serving primarily as acts of self-preservation and self-promotion.
English

@NeilShenvi As I've pointed out many times before, this is because your view of reality is so ideological and insane that every side recognizes it as untrue.
English

"Shenvi is one of the few individuals who may be considered a heretic by both antiracists and conservative Christians invested in identity politics. He is not someone who does not care about people of color or conservative Christians" - Yancey, Identity Politics in the US, p. 91

Neil Shenvi@NeilShenvi
"Perhaps one of the best examples of how antiracist and conservative Christian political activists treat heretics can be seen in the life of Neil Shenvi." - George Yancey, Identity Politics in the US, p. 89
English

@RealPatSawyer @edclements @DnormanK @NeilShenvi You should read Shepherd for Sale. A little @megbasham would do you good - and it’s a good read.
English

@edclements @ReToricL @DnormanK @NeilShenvi Ur pt here is not entirely w/out merit. But it’s too strong. Also, the need to signal to black brothers & sisters love & solidarity in that moment outwighed the concern you bring up. Even if you disagree w/ that, it’s still false to indicate J.D. supports BLM. Ok, Im out. Best…
English
@RealPatSawyer @ReToricL @DnormanK @NeilShenvi So you are actually going to assert that the phrase "Black Lives Matter" isn't fraught with implications and presuppositions that were built to deliver a particular false narrative?
You can't be that ignorant. And neither can JD.
He might as well hang a rainbow flag out front.
English

@edclements @ReToricL @DnormanK @NeilShenvi There’s no motte and bailey fallacy going on. I don’t submit to the notion that BLM as an organization has captured the phrase black lives matter and owns it not to be used by anyone else. And neither does J.D. I assure you J.D. is strongly opposed to BLM the organization.
English
@RealPatSawyer @ReToricL @DnormanK @NeilShenvi He's making a silly, pedantic point that is exactly the same lingo that the *organization* BLM uses to cover for all of its godless awfulness.
It's classic motte and bailey rhetoric.
If you're trying to be clear about a very fraught subject, why use the lingo of the enemy?
English

@ReToricL @DnormanK @edclements @NeilShenvi JD didn’t say the word BLM or the term BLM. He’s not talking about the organization BLM, which he has condemned multiple times over the course of years.
English

@DnormanK @edclements @NeilShenvi @RealPatSawyer Bc BLM is a corrupt political affiliation that promotes partisan control, is bereft of an ounce of virtue, and has nothing to do with race equality… but other than that, nothing.
Why do you think BLM needs constantly “affirmed” and “taught”?
English

@korinreid Ahh, that hurts. Ketchup works my friend. Also hot sauce.
English

@NigelBiggar Nigel, if you’re not familiar with already, you may appreciate my book with @NeilShenvi, Critical Dilemma. Strong endorsements and a World Magazine Book of the Year.

Woke politics is undoubtedly religious. But not in a good way.
It borrows Christianity’s language of oppression and redemption, but sheds the humility that knows one’s own fallibility and sin. So it does not listen, does not reflect, and does not correct itself. It smears, misreports, intimidates, and calls that righteousness.

English

@scottderrickson Congrats, Scott on making the list. You and I share a love of CS Lewis. Consequently, while I'm not a traditional horror fan (something like A Quiet Place and Get Out are about the max I can handle, altho I'm told I need to see Weapons), I always root for you at the box office.
English

@adhalejr Thanks. I’m thinking totally, more broadly. Morant‘s behavior off the court has been horrendous. How does his behavior impact your thinking?
English

@RealPatSawyer Zion. Ja Morant has had some extended periods of jaw-dropping brilliance, along with a playoff appearance (IIRC).
