This week, Red Cross National Society leaders from across Southern Africa are meeting in Maputo for the Southern Africa Partnership of Red Cross Societies.
The opening brought together Red Cross National Society leadership, Movement partners, Government representatives and members of the diplomatic community in #Mozambique, reflecting the importance of collective action in addressing the region’s humanitarian challenges.
As humanitarian needs continue to grow across the region, #SAPRCS remains key to strengthening preparedness, response, localisation and support to communities facing increasingly complex challenges.

Following severe thunderstorms in Free State, South Africa, @RedcrossSa volunteers and local authorities are on the ground conducting assessments to determine the extent of damage to homes, infrastructure, and access routes, as well as identifying affected households and prioritising urgent needs.
Efforts are focused on providing relief and supporting early recovery.

Since late December 2025, relentless rains and overflowing rivers have caused devastating floods across Mozambique affecting more than 650,000 people and severely damaging homes, livelihoods, crops, water systems and critical infrastructure.
The Mozambique Red Cross, with support from the IFRC, is evacuating at-risk communities, delivering emergency relief, providing health and WASH support, and scaling up early recovery assistance.
To support the response, the @IFRC has launched an Emergency Appeal aiming to support the Mozambique Red Cross in assisting 75,000 people affected by the floods. ifrc.org/emergency/moza…

@RedcrossSa volunteers have been conducting flood reassessments in Moses Kotane Local Municipality, North West.
Following recent floods, 103 households were affected. This will assist with identifying priority needs and guide humanitarian support as recovery continues.

Communities in Limpopo, South Africa, continue to be affected by ongoing floods. @RedcrossSa Musina Branch volunteers are currently conducting assessments in Tshakhuma village, where the situation remains challenging. Alongside these assessments, volunteers are providing psychosocial support (PSS) to affected communities, offering emotional care and much-needed relief during this difficult time.
