“Being a woman leader in the Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement means leading with empathy, purpose and a commitment to ensuring that the voices of women, girls and those most at risk are heard and reflected in humanitarian action.” Our Senior Officer for Protection, Gender and Inclusion, Maureen Wangechi, highlights that empowering women and girls is essential for building resilient communities. As we continue celebrating women, we reaffirm our commitment to gender equality and the empowerment of women everywhere. #IWD2026 #ForAllWomenAndGirls

Since late December 2025, relentless rains and overflowing rivers have caused devastating floods across Mozambique affecting more than 650,000 people and severely damaging homes, livelihoods, crops, water systems and critical infrastructure. The Mozambique Red Cross, with support from the IFRC, is evacuating at-risk communities, delivering emergency relief, providing health and WASH support, and scaling up early recovery assistance. To support the response, the @IFRC has launched an Emergency Appeal aiming to support the Mozambique Red Cross in assisting 75,000 people affected by the floods. ifrc.org/emergency/moza…

In times of war, neutrality is not indifference. It is a deliberate way of working to be able to help without taking sides, allowing us to reach those who need it most.

The ICRC has a unique role in promoting and disseminating the rules of war, like international humanitarian law (IHL). Parties to armed conflicts, international bodies, courts, and tribunals worldwide have the main responsibility to comply with and uphold the laws of war 👇🏽
