I admitted an absolutely wonderful 97-year-old today to the hospital. He looked about 20 years younger. As I always do when I meet remarkable looking older people, I asked him: “What is your secret?” He replied really simply: “oh, I just walk everywhere” Profound.

@karbonbased We learn to do many things to save money. Changing our oil, doing our own laundry and nails, making coffee at home, painting walls, gardening. I had to watch 3 YouTube videos, but I got my tub plug out to diagnose my slow drain. Dive in. Try cooking. It is so fulfilling.

United Airlines is charging extra for senior fares in this video. This woman was booking a ticket for her mother when she noticed the fare increased after she entered the age. I always mean to eat the heels of bread, but I almost never do. So, I don't throw them away when they are the last 2 pieces left. I let them sit in the drawer until they go moldy. And then I throw them away.

I have a question, if the younger generation are claiming they can't find the time and energy to cook their own meals, how do they expect to find the time to run the house they claim to want so badly? Houses take a lot of work to maintain and these people can't boil an egg.

@RealBrittHughes And quicker. If you have to wait in long for a half hour lunch at work, or at a table for an hour lunch, you have lost most of your break time. Then you ALSO lost a ton of money and are eating gross tasting unhealthy crap. 🤷🏻‍♀️

The best part about cooking your own meals is that eventually you get so good at it that you stop wanting to eat out because you know you can not only make it cheaper, but better.

Bookstores could help by hiring a teacher who teaches small reading classes weekly for different ages. They could also shelve books or cash out customers. Kiddos learn better with interesting books. Even if they charged a fee, I bet they would have a waiting list a mile long.

She also eats crap, wears a diaper, and she starts a sentence in one direction and veers off into an incomprehensible and unrelated finish. Just like he does. 🤷🏻‍♀️

@MeidasTouch @cardon_brian I would like to point out that a typical accompanying symptom of dementia is the lack of problem awareness: unkempt hair — which for decades was carefully “styled” — is simply no longer perceived as bothersome.
