I don't pretend to be a man of the people. But I do try to be a man for the people.

My unpopular opinion is that Biden’s econ team achieved their stated goal of world class Covid recovery, avoided recession (once thought inevitable), prioritized employment, navigated global inflation, and delivered benefits to the working class. it’s just that voters hated it.
Matthew Yglesias@mattyglesias

Definitely ... but how about not bringing the entire Bidenomics team while we're at it, too?

It’s worth noting that when Jan. 6 happened, the pro-Trump right used dozens of conspiracy theories to try and offload blame from themselves—e.g., claiming it was “antifa,” “feds.” Now, they seem keen to just admit they did it—all of it—and it was good.

I think “home cooked meals” conjures up a lot of very aspirational cooking, but when I was young and DoorDash didn’t exist I ate a lot of microwave burritos and like “grate some cheese on pasta with a jarred sauce.”
Taylor Lorenz@TaylorLorenz

This is bc they do not have the time or capacity to create home cooked meals. It’s an issue countless ppl have tried to raise w leftists but big leftists online continue to shame/abuse poor ppl for being forced to rely on these services for meals, which act as a tax on the poor

Being an American right now is just waking up and being told how much more money our president is stealing and having to go about our day like normal.

This Trump supporter cannot afford to eat. Look how he rationalizes his vote for Trump, who he still supports Classic cult behavior: Even as cult members lose everything, they will rarely change their beliefs

1 billion for a “ballroom” 10 billion IRS “settlement” 10 billion for Gaza “peace board” 1.6 billion for Jan 6 insurrectionists If we had a functioning, non corrupt mainstream media, I’m sure there’s a decent sized scandal or two in there somewhere. Sucks we don’t have one.

Jeffrey Epstein was a Democrat donor and Obama supporter. Trump and Epstein had a falling out and never spoke after they got in a feud over a house they both wanted in 2004, well before Epstein’s sex crimes were exposed by his first criminal conviction in 2008. Progressives like to talk about how Trump’s name appears hundreds of times in the Epstein files, but this is because Epstein was an MSNBC-watching boomer lib who was constantly complaining about Trump to anyone who would listen to him whine. There are no communications between Trump and Epstein in any of the emails. A lot of people seem to believe that the Epstein files contain emails between Trump and Epstein, but this is progressive misinformation. The fact that so many people think this is also evidence of the fact that public perception of the Epstein files is mostly based on memes and people don’t have any idea what the Epstein files are, or what they contain.

In the book Roots, Kunta Kinte was about 16 years old when he was captured, purchased, enslaved, and tortured. In the book Roots, Kizzy Kinte was about 16 years old when she was raped by the white man that purchased, enslaved, and tortured her. Said differently, Kunta and Kizzy were the exact same age as some of the very students banned from reading this book when they were purchased, enslaved, and tortured.

@Alonso_GD Think the point is we’re supposed to have moved on from this kind of thing? Like the point of white washing these characters was valid. And then we had a whole woke movement and decided not to race swap anymore and yet it only worked one way? So what, revenge first than equality?

Ok let’s do this! Every Pocahontas played by a Western / non-Native American / White actress. Let’s go! Thread time! 1) Pocahontas: The Legend (1995), played by British actress of French and Chinese heritage, Sandrine Holt

Imagine the outrage if a historically non-White character like Pocahontas were made White in a movie. Yet it’s considered acceptable to make all historically White characters non-White in movies. This is racism against White people.

Conservatives watched white actors play Egyptians, Asians, Persians, and Native Americans for 70 years and suddenly became the Casting Police in 2026. MAGAs always use civil rights icons in these arguments because deep down they know comparing fantasy characters to real Black historical figures is dishonest.

Elon’s entire argument collapses once you realize Shaka Zulu was a real person and Greek mythology is… mythology. If these people cared this much about historical accuracy, they’d be protesting every blue-eyed Jesus painting in America.
