On this day in 1862, the United States Senate approved West Virginia's admission to the Union, a pivotal step on our path to statehood. The culmination of decades of political struggle, this landmark vote affirmed the determination of West Virginians who stood with the Union and supported the cause of freedom. More than 160 years later, we continue to honor that legacy by building a brighter future for the Mountain State and the hardworking people who call it home. Happy July 14, West Virginia!

Nearly 2 months ago, the House unanimously passed the Fostering the Future Act. As the most significant reform to the Chafee Foster Youth Program since its creation, this legislation would be a historic investment in the future of our nation’s foster youth. We worked with @FLOTUS to get this bill across the finish line in the House. It's time for the Senate to act so President Trump can sign these critical reforms into law.

Two years ago today, a radical terrorist attempted to take President Trump’s life. By the grace of God, he survived. His courage in the face of evil is a testament to his unwavering commitment to our nation. President Trump has never stopped fighting for the American people, and he never will!

I am devastated to hear of the passing of Senator Lindsey Graham. He was a true God-fearing man who fought the good fight with conviction and unwavering faith. My heartfelt prayers are with his family, loved ones, and all who mourn his loss during this difficult time.

It has officially been one year since President Trump signed the Working Families Tax Cuts into law. My colleagues and I on the Ways and Means Committee worked tirelessly for two years, meeting with everyday Americans to understand how we could help them keep more of their hard-earned dollars in their pockets. One year later, we are seeing the real, everyday wins this law is delivering for small businesses, hardworking overtime employees, seniors, and so many more Americans!

It was an honor to meet our Secretary of Agriculture, @SecRollins. She truly embodies the grit and dedication that define rural America, and I have no doubt she will be a steadfast champion for our farmers, ranchers, and agricultural communities. With leadership rooted in hard work and love of country, the future of American agriculture is bright!

Last week, I attended the Dialysis Patient Citizens Reception in Washington, where I had the opportunity to meet with patients, medical providers, and advocates. Kidney advocacy is one of my top priorities in Congress, and I will always fight hard to support and introduce legislation that supports those suffering from kidney diseases. Today marks four years since the passing of Hershel Woodrow “Woody” Williams. A proud West Virginia native, Woody Williams lived a truly extraordinary life and embodied the very best of courage and service. As a Medal of Honor recipient and devoted public servant, he dedicated his life not only to defending our nation, but to serving others long after his military career ended. His unwavering patriotism and commitment to honoring Gold Star families left a lasting mark on our state and country. His legacy continues to inspire West Virginia and the nation. We will always remember his sacrifice and deep love of this great country.
