We are forever grateful for the dedicated men and women at DHS who came to work every day without knowing when their next paycheck would come. Their commitment to the Homeland Security mission is deserving of immense thanks, and Homeland Republicans remain committed to ensuring that every DHS component has the resources and support they need to be successful. “As Chairman of the House Committee on Homeland Security, I’m glad that we fully funded TSA, FEMA, CISA, the Coast Guard, the Secret Service, and other vital DHS components so the men and women on the front lines can continue to keep our nation and its people safe. As a lifelong New Yorker and representative of a community forever marked by 9/11, I know how important that mission is.” Chairman @RepGarbarino and @HomelandGOP applaud end of the Democrat @DHSgov shutdown after more than 70 days. homeland.house.gov/2026/05/01/hom…

The importance of the FISA 702 authority to U.S. national security cannot be overstated. While no one in Washington can get 100% of what they want all the time, this bill makes measurable reforms to strengthen oversight and accountability, while maintaining the criticality of this national security tool. Many of us understand the significant advantage 702 provides to U.S. national security and the fervent need to protect Americans’ privacy and civil liberties. We should not sacrifice one for the other, and this legislation, passed by the House, strikes that balance. I urge our colleagues in the Senate to take up the House-passed bill immediately and send it to President Trump’s desk for signing.

NEW: Rep. @AbrahamHamadeh (R-AZ) has introduced a resolution in the House to condemn the assassination attempt against President Trump at the WHCD on Saturday. The idea is to see how many House Democrats will vote against it, or vote present. Formally introduced & filed today.
