After @TransportGOP passed Dalilah’s Law yesterday, I met Dalilah Coleman and her family. Hearing their story was a sobering reminder of what’s at stake. When Dalilah was five, her family’s car was hit by an illegal immigrant driving a big rig 60 mph through a construction zone — a driver who was in the country illegally and had still been issued a CDL in California. After six months in the hospital, Dalilah was diagnosed with diplegic cerebral palsy and global developmental delay. She’ll need care and therapy for the rest of her life. Her family’s strength is extraordinary. Their story is exactly why this legislation matters. I’m a cosponsor of Dalilah’s Law because no family should have to endure this kind of preventable tragedy. “Three Hoosier tragedies in just a few months is a warning we cannot ignore. We need action — and we need it now.” Yesterday in the Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, I spoke in support of Dalilah’s Law — commonsense legislation to strengthen roadway safety and restore accountability. This is about protecting lives. Recent crashes in Indiana exposed serious failures in oversight, including the growth of CDL mills that exploit loopholes and put unqualified drivers on our roads — including here in #IN06. These are not isolated incidents. They point to a broader national problem. This bill cracks down on illegal immigrants exploiting those loopholes. I also introduced an amendment to strengthen the real-time verification systems used in licensing decisions. We owe it to every family on the road to fix what’s broken. #IN06 #dalilahslaw

I met today with Ken Ono, Minister of Congressional Affairs at the Embassy of Japan, to discuss our strong partnership between Japan and Indiana. 310 Japanese companies operate in Indiana, supporting 70,000 Hoosiers. Indiana leads our nation in per capita Japanese investment — with 80 companies right here in #IN06. Several TSA officers at Indianapolis International Airport have reportedly stepped away from the job as the DHS shutdown drags on. That’s what happens when Washington plays games with the people who keep us safe. TSA officers. Coast Guard members. Other frontline personnel. They’re still showing up — without pay. This is an unnecessary burden on the men and women responsible for protecting Americans and serving Hoosiers every day. I joined the East Indianapolis VA Clinic topping-out ceremony yesterday and signed the final beam. A lot of Hoosier veterans will be served here. Our veterans deserve timely, high-quality care. This project will help deliver it. The clinic is expected to open in spring 2027 and will expand access to care across #CD6. Supporting those who served will remain a priority. #CD6 #Veterans

Met with @TouretteAssn Youth Ambassador Kaiyen and her mom, Kayla, from southern Indiana. Kaiyen shared her story and the challenges families face living with Tourette Syndrome. Listening to voices like hers helps us understand how Congress can support research, raise awareness, and ensure families have the resources they need. Met with the Indiana Credit Union League (@IndianaLeague) in DC this past week to discuss expanding financial opportunity for Hoosiers across #CD6. They're also working with my office on our scam fighting efforts. Our locally-headquartered credit unions serve 2.8 million Hoosiers — many in our 6th district.  They help folks access affordable financial services, home loans, and savings options.

I was recognized by the Consumer Bankers Association as a Fraud Fighter for my work to clamp down on the foreign scam centers costing Americans billions each year. I appreciated their recognition of the work we’re doing. Met with YMCA representatives from across the nation — including leaders from Richmond — who stopped by the office to talk about strategic growth and expanding opportunities for young people in #CD6. We discussed youth development, child care, and access to programs that help kids learn, grow, and thrive. I’ll continue partnering with organizations like the YMCA to support families and expand opportunities for children across our district. #CD6 #YMCA

President Trump’s executive order is a strong step against cybercrime, fraud, and foreign scam syndicates that prey on American families. It calls for a plan to identify and dismantle scam centers, prioritize prosecutions, impose consequences on countries that tolerate these operations, and help restore stolen money to victims.
