BREAKING: President Trump announces that 9/11 hero Welles Crowther will posthumously receive the Presidential Medal of Freedom. Known as “The Man in the Red Bandana,” Crowther repeatedly ran back into the South Tower on 9/11 to help others escape, saving as many as 18 lives before losing his own. Allison Crowther said her son’s legacy continues to endure nearly 25 years later: “Welles’ light still shines brightly.”

NEW: After Tennessee botched the execution of Tony Carruthers this morning — leading Gov. Bill Lee to issue him a one year reprieve of execution — the U.S. Supreme Court, with no noted dissents, gave Florida the go-ahead to try and kill Richard Knight later today.

If a Republican candidate proposed putting Jews in work camps it would be a national media story for days. There is no version of America where rhetoric like this is acceptable.

TX-35 Democratic candidate Maureen Galindo says she will convert ICE detention center in Karnes County into an internment camp for "American Zionists." "It will also be a castration processing center for pedophiles, which will probably be most of the Zionists," she added.

In honor of America’s 250th birthday, we have commissioned statues of our Founding Fathers and other great Americans across Florida. Today, I was pleased to unveil the tenth installment in this series: A new statue of President James Madison, the “Father of the Constitution,” in the county that bears his name. With the Madison statue complete, every county in Florida named for one of our Founders now has a statue of their namesake.

We mourn the passing of Hall of Famer Bobby Cox, the fourth-winningest manager in MLB history. Cox led the Atlanta Braves to unprecedented success, winning 14 straight division titles from 1991-2005, along with 5 NL pennants and the 1995 World Series championship. The four-time Manager of the Year won 2,401 games overall, behind only Connie Mack, Tony La Russa, and John McGraw. Of the 13 managers with at least 2,000 career wins, only one (Joe McCarthy) got there in fewer games than Cox. Cox managed the Braves for 25 seasons in all, leading them to six 100-win seasons and eight 90-win seasons. He also managed the Blue Jays for four years, including the franchise’s first winning record in 1983 and first division title in 1985. As General Manager of the Braves from 1986-90, Cox laid the foundation for the teams he would manage to success over the next two decades by trading for one future Hall of Famer in John Smoltz, drafting another in Chipper Jones, and helping develop homegrown legend Tom Glavine. Owner of a .556 winning percentage in 29 total seasons as manager, Cox was elected to the Hall of Fame in 2014. He was 84 years old.

Ronald Acuña’s MRI revealed a Grade 1 hamstring strain on his left leg. It was going to be more than a few days therefore the Braves opted to place him on the IL. Walt added “all things considered it could have been a lot worse.”

The Hilton donated the ~2600 dinners that went unserved at WHCD. They freeze dried the steak and lobster for longer shelf life before giving them to 2 shelters for abused women and children. HUGE thank you to the staff that worked through the night under terrible circumstances.

Conservatives Concerned
Statement from our Executive Director @RevDMinor on the passage of HB 888 in the Pennsylvania House Judiciary Committee: “We applaud the Pennsylvania House Judiciary Committee for passing House Bill 888 – a crucial piece of legislation that would repeal the death penalty in the Keystone State. Capital punishment has proven to be a wasteful and expensive government system that fails victims' families, violates the sanctity of life, and unsuccessfully deters crime. We stand with Rep. Russ Diamond and other Pennsylvania conservatives in the fight to end the death penalty and we remain committed to pursuing effective public safety solutions for the Commonwealth. Conservatives Concerned urges lawmakers to ensure this legislation is brought to the floor of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives.”

@TRThomas96 Correct. I’m ambivalent towards the ballroom, even though I find the posture to boost Trump’s already full ego and the current economic uncertainty right now to make it a non-priority, but yes, too many conservatives are forsaking moral judgments just to make political points.

@RevDMinor Weird that so many conservative thought leaders feel the need to curse profusely to prove their points nowadays. I agree with the ballroom. I see the need. But what’s the implication here? That presidents will never attend an event in a hotel again after it’s completed?

i think it's important to note that the correspondents dinner wouldn't be at a White House ballroom even if it were built. The dinner is not a White House event. It's a WHCA event. Also, Trump had never attended before (would he host a dinner he didn't attend).
