You Will Leave Everything The most important day of your life will the day of your death. Think about that. On that day, nothing else will matter except what you have done for God and where you are going. Your house, your car, your money, your sports will mean nothing on that day. You will be leaving time and entering into eternity. Meditate on that breathtaking moment. In the exhale of one breath, you will leave everything you love. Your wedding ring. Your spouse. Your loved ones. Your vehicle. Your money. Everything. Tonight, God could say to you, "This night your soul is required of you." Let such sobering thoughts consume you. Let them drive you to use your life for what matters, to reach out to the unsaved and make a big dent in this sinful world. There goes another minute. Gone forever. Go share your faith while you still have time.

@PeterJoel2024 @douglaswils It sounds like you do not believe that we were really spiritually dead in our sins (Ephesians 2:1). Also, the idea that Lazarus was not saved until Pentecost is just weird.

Lazarus being raised from the dead was not salvation. It was a sign, a wonder, a miracle. Salvation is a living, reciprocal, fundamentally transformative relationship between the heart of man and the heart of Christ. It is a new heart and a new spirit, a new will and a new nature born of His true holiness and His righteousness, it is being made a brand new creation, the old one having fallen completely away. Anything less is just man-made Christian religiosity. Lazarus was saved on Pentecost, when he received the Holy Ghost with the rest of the disciples of Christ.

"Is salvation a cooperative affair, or does God simply intervene to bless us by taking the initiative? Was Lazarus raised from the dead in a semi-Pelagian fashion, with Lazarus pushing and Jesus pulling, or not?" (The Romantic Rationalist, p. 68).

What is the object of faith then? It is a person; it is a living, divine, appointed person. And who is that person? He is none other than Jesus, the Nazarene, who is the Son of God, God over all, blessed for ever; and yet the son of Mary, born into this world for our sakes.

I’m still trying to process what just happened. The highest ranking US intelligence official, just released smoking gun docs proving that Obama and his underlings committed treason/sedition. Meaning Trump was right about everything, the news is fake, and the Deep State is real.

Because the Disobedient Don’t Care “Settling this exegetically won’t settle anything, as the last several decades have demonstrated. If there is enormous pressure to go in this direction, and there is, then we need to bring the gospel to bear on what is causing that pressure, and stop bringing isolated texts to the symptoms of that pressure. Trying to stop the movement toward women’s ordination by means of mere textual arguments is like trying to keep a volcano from blowing by putting a tarp over it” (Why Ministers Must be Men, p. 41).

How’s That Working Out? "If someone is disposed to argue this particular point with me, they could win that argument by making a list of all the denominations that have begun to ordain women in the last generation, and show me how this was followed by an explosion of moral chastity, purity, and fidelity. Looking for flourishing chastity in such settings is a sexual snipe hunt. Just ask the question directly. Those denominations that worked through the controversy of women’s ordination a generation ago have certainly moved on. Their controversies now concern whether sodomites should be wearing sodomitres in solemn procession up the central aisle" (Why Ministers Must Be Men).

Foundationless Respect "When such attempts don't work, which they haven't, we careen off in another direction. So our egalitarian age is currently insisting, for some reason, that we now learn to respect 'diversity,' but it can give no coherent reason, given its relativistic premises, why we should do so. Without confidence in God's creation design, we have no reason to respect anything, much less diversity" (Federal Husband, p. 33).

Dr. Russell Barkley, drawing from 20+ years of twin studies, behavior genetics, and neuroimaging: Parenting isn't engineering a blank slate—it's shepherding a unique genetic mosaic already loaded with 400+ psychological traits that emerge mostly on their own timetable. You provide the pasture: safe, nourishing environments with adequate (not excessive) stimulation, protection from harm, and access to rich out-of-home influences (peers, schools, neighborhoods, community—the biggest shaper after genetics, per Judith Harris in The Nurture Assumption). But you don't redesign the sheep. No prenatal Mozart, no overload of crib toys turns threshold development into engineered genius. Extra stimulation past basics yields diminishing returns; "more is better" is a cultural illusion, not biology. Data is stark: Parental influence on core traits peaks before 7, plummets to ~6% in teens, hits zero after 21. Knowledge transfers via exposure—yes. Personality, abilities, temperament? Largely genetics + broader world. This frees parents from crushing guilt ("If my child struggles, I failed"). Instead: Curate wisely, then enjoy watching the individual unfold. Open the Chardonnay, kick back—the show is brief. Short of abuse/neglect/malnutrition, in-home tweaks are often trivial next to where you choose to live and the doors it opens. Shepherd, not engineer. Let them grow into who they already are. Does this shift relieve pressure—or challenge how you view "success" in raising kids?

‘There are some people that would represent sin as a sickness and say that man is sick. Man is sick, but to me that’s not the essence of the problem. The essence of the problem is that man is a rebel, and he is sick because he’s a rebel. In other words, the business of Christianity ultimately is not simply to make us feel happier or even to make us live a better life. It is to reconcile us to God.” — Martyn Lloyd Jones

Thomas Sowell: “Slavery was not confined by race. It was not defined or created by race. It existed for thousands of years. A history professor once had a student come up to him and ask, ‘When did slavery begin?’ The real question is: when did freedom begin? Slavery existed as long as we have records. From archaeological findings, we know that people were enslaving other people before they could read or write. It has always existed and has existed all over the world. The number of White people enslaved by pirates in North Africa was greater than the number of Africans brought to the United States. And yet, that’s not even mentioned.”
