🚨 JUST NOW: The entirety of US Congress ERUPTS in a standing ovation when King Charles III drops this line “Magna Carta is cited in at least 160 Supreme Court cases in 1789, not least as the foundation of the principle that executive power is subject to CHECKS AND BALANCES."

Never mind MP’s being pissed whilst they’re voting. I reckon folk should be more raging about the fact that the Commons Bar is fucking subsidised. By us.

@Stsantek It’s not just alcohol. MPs also enjoy public subsidises luxury dishes like in the HoC like Panko coated lamb loin with carrot & Timothy Taylor Ale purée, black garlic, potato galette, and natural jus. All while UK households: - 21% live in poverty. - 1 in 6 have food insecurity

Yeah no, sorry, MPs are often cooped up in Parliament for 15 hours a day, they will have a drink with journalists or colleagues and will still be discussing politics -their job, as Hannah says. I don’t like the blanket demonisation of MPs and Hannah should know better after she had already been accused of not taking the job seriously because she took part in that dancing event in Portcullis house. It was unfair to call her unserious about that then and it is unfair of her to now suggest that MPs having a drink in between votes which take up all night is by default bad.

"You can smell the alcohol when people are in between votes." Green MP Hannah Spencer tells us what Westminster is REALLY like. The full interview is live on YouTube, and as a podcast here: linktr.ee/howtorebuildbr…

I really think Starmer blocking Burnham in Gorton and Denton was a sliding doors moment. Labour are now in a collapse they won’t recover from. The crazy thing? EVERYONE but Lucy Powell voted against Burnham in the NEC special committee. 8-1. Suicidal lemmings.

If Labour MPs were to move against Starmer after the May elections, they would likely be opening a Pandora’s Box of doom and dragging the party into an electoral death spiral.

If this ends up happening it would be utterly mad. Mama isn’t ready + you’re binning Robertson, Salah AND Alisson all in one season. The leadership group is left with Van Dijk and who? You can’t win trophies with this type of turnover in players.

@AaronBastani This tactical voting line is what keeps the x2 party system in place. You have to build your movement. If that means alllowing the Tories or Lib Dem’s in for a term, then so be it. They will fail, as they always do. That’s your chance then to offer something new.

I’ve had enough. Even if I was in Preston, with amazing candidates, I’d not vote Labour at this point. I’m sick of these incompetent morons calling anyone they disagree racist/evil/devoid of humanity etc They are awful, and Labour needs a lesson.
Aaron Bastani@AaronBastani

@SteveReedMP My local councillor is Labour & excellent. If she loses the Lib Dem wins. Greens stand no chance in my ward, & have no real operation of note. Nonetheless, this tiresome nonsense is what could stop me, & I suspect many others, from backing a good local candidate. It’s on you.

"I think that Keir is going to keep his job & I think its the right thing to do. We've got a war going on, and I think this is not the time to even be thinking about this" Thornberry isn't motivated by principle. She's applying for a job with whoever is Starmers successor.

I saw Hodge in the Newsnight green room a few months after the 2024 GE. I didn’t bring up Labour’s deselection, but she decided to tell me I was better off being with my baby than being an MP… Pretty shocking for someone who’s meant to be a women’s champion 😂

Common sense decision & something that prevents & detects crime - what have you got to fear if you dont commit crime? When it suits public want lots of cctv to assist identifying & arresting people - some, it seems fear a camera. They clearly never go on holiday or travel 🤷‍♂️
