So basically, you’re telling me that no AAA game can be hardcore; everything has to be extremely casual to please the dad who only plays for an hour a day. A major update could do a lot of things, like improve matchmaking or offer free trails.

Marathon’s "Toxic" Community Problem Could Kill the Game while they believe they're fighting to save it. Devs ignored internal warnings about needing PVE, and now players are leaving in droves. But for me, I find myself always wanting to play, so can Marathon be saved?

I love what marathon is. I know this is what the devs vision for the game was and I haven’t been so addicted to a game like this in forever. And I would love for it to just add on to that experience. That being said, I am all for them adding a pve mode or something that would get more ppl into the game. I don’t know if Sony is gonna allow them to retain employees or give them the bankroll to allow them to add to their original vision for the game with a lower than expected player count and revenue. If the pve mode is a way to get people through the door and get them hooked on the game and the universe, and then that funnels into the main mode and ends up helping the studio and the game, why wouldn’t I support that. I’ve seen tweets about how people want the game to stay niche and all that, and I understand but ultimately I want the game to get more than six months of love before Sony decides to pull the plug and we get a skeleton crew or worse. I experienced that with Halo infinite and it’s very depressing. I think outright dismissing both sides of the convo is silly and shortsighted and both sides have pros and cons. Just thoughts.

Scheduling: We're taking a crack at splitting up the Cryo and Ranked play windows, and trying to give some flex to week/weekend play with some tradeoffs. This change to the schedule means:
- Cryo and Ranked windows won't overlap.
- Cryo will start this week on Thursday 3/26 10AM PT and end on Sunday 3/29 10 AM PT.
- When Cryo queue closes, Ranked queue will go live Sunday 3/29 10 AM PT.
We'll keep watching the situation and looking at further improvements.

Some Marathon things.
- Some Xbox and PS5 owners said that matchmaking can take 10 minutes if you disable cross-play with PC.
- Only 0.2% of the 100 million PS5 owners bought this first party Sony game.
It's not known if it sold more, or less than Concord and Lego Horizon.

I am begging y'all to stop doomposting about Marathon. The average non terminally online user seeing all the OMG STUDIO SHUTDOWN takes will prevent people from playing, and it will harm long term success. Just play if you want, or don't. The devs are knocking it out of the park and there's already enough chartwatchers yapping as detractors without folks who genuinely want success assuming it'll go down quick too.

@DemShenanigans @wadevstheworld I will just say that console players should be aware of the player count. On console with crossplay off queue times are a legitimate problem. I would just advise anyone on console before purchasing that cross play off is not a great experience right now

I mean that's the thing, if they don't want to they won't, which is fine. But running around trying to convince people it doesn't have an active player base is weird and honestly, if it's a game you like, it's not doing any favors if a random person hops on and sees the folks they follow saying "omg it's dead ahhhhh!!" all over.

Honestly, it’s wild that we’re only getting one shop bundle a week…
I don’t know if they just don’t have a large assortment of skins ready yet, or if they’re intentionally drip-feeding content. Either way, I’d like to be able to browse more options weekly instead of waiting months for a good skin to show up.
Customization was something highlighted in the early marketing, and so far it’s felt pretty limited. :P
