@DannySauter This is a historical mistake of epic proportions @DannySauter and I'm really disappointed in the BOS for letting this happen. The logical, sustainable and forward-looking way here was to keep the fountain and restore and refill it to return it to its heyday. Very sad.

I respect the architecture and role this fountain has played in our city, particularly when the Embarcadero Freeway loomed above. But this is the responsible way forward. A restoration would have cost $30 million dollars (!!) and today it poses an immediate safety hazard.
