@PackersNotes And yet we go through this every season. There's nothing wrong with draft "grades". Literally EVERYONE knows it takes years to truly know. Rhetorical. Grades are simply an analyst's first and initial thoughts, which people want. The same reason people visit this page.

Only an imbecile would grade a draft the next day. We have no idea if any of these picks will be able to make an impact at the next level. The only thing you can definitively say about the past three days is that they made sense.

Scenes from a monster Haywood County Helene debris flow. Big volume from the triggering landslide; micaceous bedrock and smaller clasts may have kept things rolling. Initial failure at 5,300 ft elevation. Initial slide 7 ft thick; up to 13 ft of deposition behind log jam.

@joshsec15 @AdamKoffler But if that's where one's job is that's where they need to be. It's not easy to find another job in another area that may or may not be any cheaper, move the family, etc. Sometimes the cost of living is what it is without a lot of pain changing that. Not feasible for many.

@AdamKoffler Ideally yes, 20% down to avoid PMI. But for a 1st time buyer Ramsey says 5% down. If 700K is the starter home, you can’t afford to live there. Yes it’s relative but the average home is 450K. You might need to look outside your ideal area.

Here’s Dave Ramsey’s advice on buying a house in the year 2026: - Have 20% for a down payment to avoid private mortgage insurance (PMI) - Do a 15-year fixed rate loan - Make sure your monthly payment isn’t more than 1/4th of your take home pay Let’s put that math to the test 👇🏼

@randycharb @AdamKoffler Except with gas prices that adds a lot of cost, too. Not to mention, the wasted time in a vehicle that could be used to earn more money, rest, spend time with the family, etc. Sure, there are always options. It doesn't mean any of them are good though.

@AdamKoffler Ok I did that on the fly and I'm just quickly browsing Zillow. If I had a few hours and MLS access down there I'm sure I could zero in on 10 better options. My point is you don't need to be VP of a company to buy a starter house. U might need to commute a little or whatever

Brian Gutekunst held onto Aaron Rodgers in 2022 because it was the safest move, even though it seemed pretty obvious that it was the right time to cut the cord. We may look back and feel the same way about Ed Policy holding onto Gutekunst and Matt LaFleur in 2026.

just looking at what expensive houses in other states look like out of curiosity and there is some horrifying stuff. See a "luxury" house in vegas but then you zoom out and its on a block with 20 copies of the exact same house on tiny lots every single house here is >$2m

Wide receiver/returner Skyy Moore's 1-year contract with the Packers is worth $2.5M and includes $1M in guaranteed money. Unlike Mecole Hardman a year ago, Moore wasn't signed to compete for the team's No. 1 returner spot; he was signed to be the team's No. 1 returner.

@dvdowns1973 @PackersNotes Because he sucks. He's a decent to good backup, at best. He will choke in the biggest moments. A team might be able to survive if he's their 5th-6th best OL.

That's a great deal for the Panthers. I assume Walker is betting on himself to play better in 2026 and cash in next year. Regardless, it's crazy that he's making so much less than Sean Rhyan, who was literally benched last October.
Aaron Wilson@AaronWilson_NFL

#Panther Rasheed Walker one year up to $10M, $4M base value, $2M signing bonus, salary $1.215M, $3.215M fully gtd $40K per game active roster bonuses, $105K workout bonuses Incentives can boost total value of deal

Adam Schefter is now reporting Walker might sign a 1-year contract and try free agency again next March. The length of the deal won't affect the Packers' compensatory pick. What matters is the average yearly salary, although that figures to be somewhat lower on a 1-year contract.
Michael Rodney@PackersNotes

If Rasheed Walker is getting lowballed, he might want to sign a 1-year deal and hit free agency again next year. While he's not an elite LT, he's capable of playing better than he did in 2025. And even in a somewhat down season, he was still well above average in pass protection.

Something might be up with Rasheed Walker. Somebody in my comments - yes, there are a few comments not left by bots and people with the IQ of bots - mentioned his knee, which was a concern going into the 2022 draft but hasn't been an issue the past four seasons.

At this point, I think the odds of getting a 3rd-round compensatory pick for Rasheed Walker are pretty slim. If he were to sign that type of contract, he probably would’ve done it by now.

DE Lukas Van Ness' fifth-year option would cost the Packers $14.475M because he didn't make the Pro Bowl or meet playing-time incentives. With very few exceptions, players who fall into the "do not Achieve Any Criterion" category have no business getting their option picked up.
Tom Pelissero@TomPelissero

And here are the fifth-year option numbers for 2023 first-round picks. Any team exercising the option must notify the player in writing no later than May 1.

I don't know exactly what happened with Rich Bisaccia, but I do know that a coach being paid around $15M a year should never allow himself to be put into a position where he's forced to interview the dregs of special teams coordinators.

You have to stop treating it like a performance where you are trying to become the best version of yourself. It is not theatre. It is not self transformation day after day. You do it the way you brush your teeth. It is not about liking or disliking it. It is simply something you do. The moment you frame working out as a heroic arc, you introduce emotion into it. Motivation, inspiration, identity, self judgment. That makes it unstable. Some days you will feel like the protagonist. Most days you will not. But brushing your teeth requires no identity. No inspiration. No self analysis. It is maintenance. When exercise becomes maintenance rather than self-improvement theatre, it becomes lighter. Less ego. Less pressure. Less evaluation.

@zachkruse2 The reality is the Packers must draft better, develop better, coach better, and do better in Free Agency. Yes, that's asking a lot, but if they improve in those areas they'll have better performance. They just haven't been good enough in some areas. Good not great.
